Per infraction I hope.Section 18. Trades.
Any player (or, for clarity, any player representative or person acting with authority on behalf of a player) who publicly expresses a desire to be traded to another Team shall be subject to a fine and/or a suspension. The maximum fine that may be imposed by the NBA on a player pursuant to the foregoing shall be $150,000.
I would also like to point out that the AD to LAL trade was talked about for a while before the actual trade because AD was deep into his last year and notified New Orleans he would not be re-signing with them at the end of the season. They traded him to where he wanted to be because it was expeditious and the Lakers would give up the most for the player Lebron hand picked. Yes, he could have been a 60 day rental but that would be absurd. AD was fined;

Pelicans’ Anthony Davis fined
Official Release |
January 29, 2019
NEW YORK – New Orleans Pelicans forward-center Anthony Davis has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for violating a collectively-bargained rule prohibiting players or their representatives from making public trade demands. The fine is for statements that were made by Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, in an intentional effort to undermine the contractual relationship between Davis and the Pelicans.
Quoting myself here asking someone to send this to that Miami writer, Barry Jackson I believe. I guess he can not do his own research. I don't do Twitter/X.
this one aged poorly
Apparently, they didn't get the memo that none of those players were going to come to Portland anywayFans are monitoring closely how a formerly beloved superstar treats his former fan base and their cherished team on his way out.
Dude is the biggest boxing fan on earth! Why is it under boxing?
My nephew is named Aaron. Can't trust people named Aaron. Facts. Haha
And Fans of Dame are monitoring how some fans have stabbed him in the back with their vile diatribes , when it was the GM not keeping his promises who started this BS.Fans are monitoring closely how a formerly beloved superstar treats his former fan base and their cherished team on his way out.
So your take away from this reveal is...it's the Front Office's fault? Goodwin is this your burner account?
My nephew is named Aaron.
Only Blazer fans are looking at how Dame is treated...players in the league couldn't give a shit about Portland's front office or the team. If they did they'd be clamoring to join Dame in a Blazer championship run...ain't happenin' as much as I wanted it toAs I stated, handled poorly on all fronts. I suppose that I do place most of the blame on the Blazers org. These guys are a dumpster fire. You know that every player and every team is watching to see how Dame is treated. This will have severe ramifications on how willing other players are going to engage with the Blazers in the future.
Also my name. HahaMy nephew is named Aaron.
If I were in Cronin’s shoes, in light of yesterday’s announcement by the league, I’d issue a press release saying that after weeks of discussions with the Heat the Blazers don’t see a viable path to a trade and are closing down further negotiations. The Blazers remain open to honoring Dame’s request for a trade, but only for a return package commensurate with his value to the Blazers and All-NBA talent. Barring such a trade offer being forthcoming, the Blazers will welcome Dame at fall camp.
Pretty sure that would earn Cronin a fine from the league as well. Its not just Dame/Goodwin being rebuked. Everyone is. Can't just warn one side.
There’s nothing wrong with a GM closing trade discussions with another team. It happens every day in the NBA. Joe probably would add something like, “Should the Heat come to us with a new trade package that meets our objectives, we would certainly consider it.”
Love the thought by @e_blazer but you probably right. Privately you tell Miami this and let it marinate.I understand your point, but you just don't negotiate via the press. That is the job of Haynes, Fentress and the Miami press corp. Too many ego's become injured and these people do not want egg on their faces. But I would love it to an extent.

I see absolutely nothing wrong at this point with telling Riley that the ball is in his court. The Blazers said that they would try to facilitate a trade for Dame. They didn’t say that they would spend the summer trying to endlessly roll the rock up the hill to make a deal with just the Heat. It’s possible that the League’s action will spur the Heat to sweeten their offer, but I think it’s going to take another team or two to put something together that’s palatable to the Blazers. Riley’s the guy who wants to get the best player in the deal. He should do the heavy lifting.
It is my belief that the market for Dame will be more favorable to us in February than this summer. As I stated in another post, right now teams are feeling good about themselves. Come deadline, teams will realize they have no chance but sense that by adding Dame to their team they can go for it, much like Phoenix/KD.You are 100% correct here. You just don't do it publicly. And in my opinion, Cronin is fielding calls now. Adam Silver, via the memo he put out, announced to every team that Dame conceded he would fulfill the terms of his contract irrespective of where he is traded. Many players have been traded to places they do not want to go. But it is a contract. It has value to both sides. Portland will try to accommodate Dame as best they can, but now they no longer have a knife to their throat. It is probably pretty difficult to want to fulfill someones wishes when they have that knife on your jugular.
What Dame/Goodwin did is explicitly restricted un the new CBA that was adopted.Pretty sure that would earn Cronin a fine from the league as well. Its not just Dame/Goodwin being rebuked. Everyone is. Can't just warn one side.

KD wanna go to Phx but Phx doesn't wanna give up assets in August, but by the deadline they realized they weren't going anywhere and sensed that the West was open for the taking, they were suddenly willing give up Mikal/Cam/Crowder/Many Picks for an aging, injury-riddled superstar
