Gay Love Mayo. There was some serious interaction back in that draft.

I know not many of you liked him but I would have never gotten rid him. I would have told him to go take a long vacation and clear your head. And be prepared to come back and run your business differently
He just had to many important skills. He was a very valuable man. The skills that you saw out of Larry Miller, KP and Tom Penn or Chris McGowan and Neil. That was Bob wrapped in one. He could have adusted his philosophy to fit that in way Allen wanted to go. He had good recruiters, a good scouting team. H

Looks like we're interested in Monroe.
My guess is Monroe is the Blazers top FA target (outside of LaMarcus). Since he's only a 5 yr vet, his max (25% of CAP) is less than the 7-9 yr vets available (30% of CAP). That leaves the Blazers a bit of money to fill the gap at SF.The Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, Hawks and Trail Blazers have all expressed interest in the soft-spoken Georgetown big man, and could very well be the other teams Monroe has lined up to talk to.
Monroe-LA would be pretty sick offensively and with the way the games changing, passable on defense. We could always bring in the stopper Plums.

Aldridge is underrated man to man, imo he particularly plays well against centers. Biebs will get better. We would be all about scoring and with that line up you have 5 guys that can drill a 3. Have lillard and CJ playing passing lanes for fast break buckets.I love your idea, sheed, but I can't think of a worse possible defensive configuration than a front line of Leonard at SF, Love at PF and LMA at C. But at least you bring Monroe off the bench.![]()
Plumlee is not a good defender. One of his weaknesses is defensive rotations.
Monroe may not be a great fit next to Aldridge or Love. Monroe likes the ball top key left, as does LA on pick and pops. Love also likes it left side. The difference of course is Monroe shoots almost all of his shots in the paint. An offense would need to be designed to take advantage of high low, but Aldridge would not have the space he currently does, Love would fair better.....just my opinion of course.
As for Monroe, there has to be a reason Portland was so interested in him last year. I linked it in another thread that Monroe is a lot more productive at C than PF. The Monroe/LA pairing intrigues me.
I just have a feeling your plan will be short lived with Aldridge.Simple... sign Lamarcus and Monroe, add offensive liability but stud defender Aminu. We have added then 2 guys under 25 years old and have youth, experience and talent for the next 5 years.
I think they wanted Monroe on the cheap last year to kick the tires. He's a LaMarcus hedge since I have a feeling he doesn't want to sign with a team that plans to sick him at the 5. IMHO he's by far the best PF replacement on the market.

Side not on Monroe, he is 2 inches shorter than Meyers at only 6'9.75 in socks. And his wing span is also slightly shorter, but his standing reach is actually a half an inch longer at 9.05".
Vonleh on the other hand measured at only 6'8" but has a a slightly longer wing span than both of the other two and about the same standing reach at 9'.
Plumlee also has a 9' standing reach.
It doesn't really mean anything, but I was curious to compare them.
I think Neil wants the deepest bench in the NBA and a top 2 way team. Everything you need for matchups is getting covered, shooters, slashers, defenders, and tempo..I'm impressed so far
Aminu is a defender, Leonard improved drastically on defense, Henderson is in my view better than you think he is..he has quick hands, Lamarcus is a good defender, but none of them will defend well if they don't do it together. Plumlee is an excellent defender...it's a matter of opinion though whether you see CJ, Dame, etc making a defensive leap. Vonleh has a lot of potential to defend well and in my view is way better than TRob at 18..More importantly cmeese..what do you think so far about the moves we've made....Batum is gone and you should be happy yeah? What defenders? Plumlee has some upside there but he is not good yet. Henderson is really not a good defender at all.
I think we all want a deep bench for a change. At least an average bench. But then again....we'll see with Stotts still around.I think Neil wants the deepest bench in the NBA and a top 2 way team. Everything you need for matchups is getting covered, shooters, slashers, defenders, and tempo..I'm impressed so far
