Olshey has had a great off-season. Judged by early July's, this is his best in 7 years.

but I wouldn't call these ballsy moves at all. Like somebody else said, there was no substantial risk involved in any of these deals

one thing Olshey has reinforced so far is that he is the master of the bargain bin. When another team is looking to dump a player, Olshey manages to be the first knock on the door time and time again

I am perfectly fine with that. His best moves have been moves exactly like these. You don't need to be ballsy. The Knicks have been ballsy for years. As have the Nets. And they are in a huge market in which it's far easier to recover than we are.

on the other hand, the time for a team like Portland to be ballsy is when players like Paul George, Kawhi, or AD are on the market, and every rumor we've heard in those situations is that CJ wasn't available. Now, I'm not saying making CJ available would have altered the outcomes of those trades...just that the 'reports' are CJ was "untouchable" and that's not ballsy

And I'm pretty much OK with that as well... I don't think CJ would have been enough to get those deals done anyway. So why risk pissing CJ off when the Spurs don't want to send Kawhi West, and Pritchard doesn't want to deal with Portland? And we weren't getting AD, regardless of CJ being involved or not.

After seeing his trades this week I’m starting to think PA may have had a lot to do with making guys untouchable. Neil trades something like 25% of last years team that went to the WCF.
