All the examples you guys brought of of players improving while NJ Nets are completely irrelavent. We were discussing improving as teamates of Jason Kidd, not as New Jersey Nets.

My bad I figured you were talking about the Nets in general. Well Lucious Harris is probably the only Nets player who Stats & role increased once J.Kidd came. Mainly because he played together with Kidd in Dallas where he had a similiar role off the bench. But Kidd doesnt just elevate a player. He elevates the entire team concept, which allows players to perfect their roles on the team.

and you are considering player that are over their prime and i belive far from it now
Lu Harris
Rodney Rogers
Mutombo

Keith Van Horn- His game elevated to a certain level when kidd came
Kidd made everbody more productive Kittles too

^ Van Horn's best year was playing alongside Cassell, he even admitted that in a new article one time. But their was def a rebirth in Van Horn's game in 2001-02 from when he was playing alongside Steph. And thats exactly what I mean by Kidd elevating the team concept which allows players to play their roles perfectly. Van Horn's stats were the lowest of his Nets career in 2001-02 but he was clearly a more productive team player then he was the 2 years before when he averaged 19ppg & 17ppg respectively playing alongside Steph.

I agree with there henacy he became more of a team player sharing points with the rest of the team and he come in clutch alot of time when kidd came in. Remember the Boston game.

i wouldn't really mind sar, but it scares me a little bit too much. i don't like that fact that we will be trading for someone who has been a starter and plays the same position that a current player plays who is trying to get a new contract. i think this puts kmart in a bad position, i know it is business but as a fan i dont like it. i rather us go after/do the ray allen trade rumor that has been around. we obviously need outside shooting and ray allen is a top tier shooter. if you have the opportunity to get him, i think it is basically a must. we won't have much money to throw around, so i think we need to keep our draft pick if we can unless mentioned for money to use towards kenyon. we have said since last summer when kmart wanted a max or close to that the nets would match any offer, and i'm still trusting them. so i think if the nets org feels confident about keeping kmart, then we need to go after ray hard and early. if that cannot be done via just nj/sea/por or maybe a nj/sea/por 3way, then we could go after sar. i hope/wish we can have kmart resigned before we make moves. i know that probably won't happen, but it would make me feel a lot calmer for the summer. this is basically the same situation with kidd last year, except he was an unrestricted FA, that he might go to SA and we kept him. rod said we were going to keep kidd and we did, so i believe we will keep kmart. i don't know if it will be max, but if it has to be;then so be it. but maybe they can talk to kmart and show him thier commitment to winning and improving our team and maybe he won't ask for what he wants and maybe take a few $$ less. bottom line, sar is a nice talent but it makes me nervous that we might lose kmart. replacing kenyon with sar is going backwards IMO.

I say make the trade sar (give up our 2nd round pick instead of first) and use the 22 pick to pick up the best sg left in the draft and we can use him as a starter and let that player get the feel cause there are enough games in the season for a player to see what he can achive especially that they are playing along side kidd, jefferson, kmart and sar (if they get him). You gotta also remember that there are alot of quality players out there. Just look at detriot they tyshun prince at the 23 pick, indiana got al harrington at 25, and dallas got who was howard or the other guy as none draft pic. the draft is a gamble and we can take that at the position that we are in and if that doesnt work out lu can always start. Also heres a good one Van Exel came in the 2nd round of the draft. they need to take that chance but they have to do their homework. Plus with all these long term contract that are going around with the nets you gotta figure you can have a really solid team in a year. Or maybe all that i am saying is just wishfull thinking

ESPN.COM Chad Ford says Rodney Rogers will also be packaged in the Portland deal. Just in case no-one knew.

Well. I have spent MUCH time trying to find the angles ofr both sides. I see that Thorn is forgetting Martin and going for a real stand-up Vet. But I don't see much for Portland. Sure they got Randolph, but you can get a front-line player in exchange for Rahim. None of the offered players will be impact players.

Portland is Portland, what are ou gonna do? :/

i believe the nets future rests on Jason kid Primarily.

I believe if Kidd can reabilitate from his surgery and play with the intensity that he played with in the past, that he'll be able to make the team work with any aquisitions the nets managements gets.

I just truly think the nets need a second gameplan to fall back on when there run and gun style is cut off.

plus all that running and gunning is probilly horrible for kids ailing knees.
I

^ Well I disagree IKIT, The Nets future rests on Kidd-Martin-Jefferson as a unit. Kenyon Martin & Richard Jefferson are the youthful parts to the unit. And wil be here hopefully after kidd is gone. Martin was the Nets 1st half of the season MVP. And Richard Jefferson was the Nets 2nd half of the season. Martin is the Nets only option in the low post. And Richard Jefferson has already taken over as the Nets #1 option in the half-court due to his ablity to take players off the dribble. And Rob Thorn said shortly after the Nets were defeated by the Pistons, that RJ would carry even more plays ran thru him next year on offense.

So slowly but surely Jefferson & Martin (if they both stay with the Nets) will be option #1 & #2 for the Nets.

I think the nets future rest more on Jefferson and Martin. Their game is getting so much better and Kidd is second we need kidd for the leadership most of all. but kidd is what makes the machine work. I feel all this team needs now is a atlethic shooter and a center that is a pure rebounder that can put it in the hole if it comes down to it. Cause then there would be a run and gun game and then the half court game which Kmart and Jefferson are getting much better more Jefferson then KMart.
