Some businesses are better than others.
This is what happens when you don't have regulation that forces businesses to behave responsibly and when you have Citizens United Which encourages those companies to write legislation that allows them to be more evil. Which our leaders have to support in order to get the money they rely on to be competitive in elections.

Basically, this is how Republicans and corporate Democrats want it.

Let's keep politics out of the main forum.

And we just follow the flow like sheep in tow…

So seriously? We have found some people who are going to complain about this? Really?
In all honesty, my family can no longer watch these games or record these games with what we have at home. I’m kind of complaining about that. I’m being told to buy an antenna, then what my family still can’t record the games. we haven’t sat down and watched a live TV in 20 years. So yeah, this is kind of lame.

I’ll never forget being at a dinner with guys on the road that we’re all excited that we were moving from FOX Sports Northwest, to Comcast sports. I looked the guy in the eye, and asked him if my family will be able to watch these games on DIRECTV like they could on FOX Sports Northwest. He smiled and said we are working on a deal, and should be done in a month. My family wasn’t able to watch Blazer games for 16 years. That guy no longer works for the Blazers.

If you have internet you can and you can bring the game up at any time and you can fast forward through commercials. These games will be on You Tube. You just have to figure out a new way to do it.

I shared a link to a well-known box that comes with antenna and DVR. It's a $120 one-time purchase.

That is a better option than anything anybody who was left out could have done in the last contract.

I mean I'm sorry that you have to deal with some change, I do too. But this change is actually a very positive one.

Now, if you do buy the antenna and tuner, you will always have access to local news and television. That's great for emergencies, extreme weather, power outages, cable outages, etc...

It's honestly a good investment that most people should have in their homes. And this just gives you another reason to do that.

And again you don't need the $120 option. There's also $25 option on Amazon that is not nearly as well known, but you'll also have to buy an antenna (though, in your location you could probably get away with just stuffing a paperclip in the port).

Im with ya on this. Can we unite on common ground?

Wait. So with youtube tv you get the charge channel and can record to watch later?

Thats dandy but is yet still another 120 dollars.
And its not really about the money. Its about trying to figure out how to get what i once had that was working just fine for years.
It is difficult to find clear answers now, as to what options come with what services and what streams have the service needed.

It sure seems much more complex than it needs to be. But that is all on the channels and hosting services.
Why every streaming service lut there doesn't offer dvr abilities blows my mind. Most people dont watch live tv.

youtubetv does have their quirks. Navigating your DVR library can be a pain in the ass, and sometimes things you recorded are hard to find, but all in all, it's worth it. The channels that aren't offered, aren't channels I care about. I can watch it on my phone, laptop or TV, and I can access it anywhere I have internet (not with local channels tho...so I don't know if Charge! will work in places like Boise, or Spokane or Missoula).

This might help.

Has it been confirmed youtube TV and some of these other national streaming providers will air the OTA Blazer games?

There is charge TV here in Austin but I can't imagine it will have the PDX feed, so we don't know what feed a national source like Youtube TV will use. They could pick from one of many local charge TV channels. They might explicitly be banned from showing the PDX feed during Blazer games as the NBA would want people to buy Blazervisions, NBA League Pass, ESPN/TNT, etc instead.

Its like saying just because you have ABC channel somewhere nationally that doesn't mean you will get what is broadcast on the PDX ABC channel (KATU).

Best option is probably YouTube TV. But if you don't want to pay $75 per month you can also probably just use a paperclip.

Unless your TV doesn't have a tuner. In which case you can buy one of many options between $20 and $120, depending on what features you want and if you care about DVR.

But I agree that all services should be required to air all local content with mass appeal.

Either I'm misunderstanding what you're asking, or you misunderstand how TV broadcasts work. This is 2024, not 1984. If you are in the Portland area, you get KATU, KGW, KOIN, and KPTV on your youtubetv broadcast, but if you go to Spokane you get KREM, KXLY and KHQ and if you go to Seattle you get KOMO, KIRO, KING and KONG.

In Austin, the Portland Charge! affiliate is not shown because, well, it's not in Portland or the Portland TV market/territory.
When you are out of the market, and you have Portland (or whatever city) listed as your home market, you can, after the fact, access programs from the local stations that you have recorded though (i.e., if I recorded a Blazer game on my youtubeTV, but was outside of the Portland market, I can access the recording once the game is over).

They aren't going to "ban" local stations from broadcasting local channels (the Portland Charge! station in this scenario) to force you to buy Blazervision.

They aren't going to show local shows from one market to another market.

Why such loyalty to Direct TV?

I saw no link from you. I will UNBLOCK you and go look.

I don’t know. Just always had it. It’s bundled with my ATT (Vulcan discount)(free HBO and MAX) and internet at a damn good price!

I was just hanging out with my son in LA for a couple days, and he has something called a super box, anybody ever heard of that?

Yep. It works, but big games can lag.

It's better just to find sources online so if you run into lag issues you can switch to another source.

Friend of mine has something that he can watch any channel in the US and there's no blackouts or nothing. He lives in the middle of the country, and can watch KPTV, KATU, KGW and KOIN via this program, from his home. Saves him a TON of money.

Yes, for normal stuff it works very well. Just make sure you have a backup for large popular events.

So he takes after his mom?!

BAM!!
