New owner... Tom Dundon?

I don't think the source for the NHL salary cap is the same as the source for the NBA salary cap.

I.e., the majority of the NBA salary cap comes from the TV contract, iirc, whereas in the NHL it's a mix of things, mostly ticket sales and merch sales.

I think, tho I could be wrong, that the NBA salary cap is mostly made up/paid for by the TV contract, right? If that's true, the NHL is more out of pocket.

good point....so then, google:

since it's from 2023, that breakdown of NBA revenue likely doesn't reflect the new media deals that start this season

The NFL is interesting to me:
Local TV revenue for the NFL.......1 %
National TV revenue for the NFL....... 66%

it's probably because with the NFL rules on broadcasts, the games for the local teams are available every week. I mean for chrissakes, the fucking Seahawks are always on Fox or CBS in Portland every damn week

I didn't say he did not have wealth. I said he doesn't have as much as most of the other owners.
Jody comes in as the 4th-wealthiest owner. Dundon will come in near the bottom. That doesn't mean he will be cheap; I am just saying
that is probably why Ian made the comment. He is guessing
See thats where you can't just trust some AI facts you get on the internet. Jody is listed as the 4th wealthiest because it's saying she owns every asset in the Paul Allen trust. She doesn't. None of the Allen trust wealth would have been liquidated to help the Blazers financiallly. So if anything you could think of Jody as one of the poorest owners in the NBA.

Similarly I don't believe any of these people have a real idea of Dundon true wealth.

When the team is selling for 4 billion you don't have to worry about the owner lack of wealth. Dundon has a history of spending smartly with the Hurricanes, not being a cheapskate, as well as with many other investments.

Well, Jody wasn't/isn't an owner at all. So she shouldn't be on the list poor, rich, or otherwise.

The trust should be on the list, and the trust is very wealthy, and it did, in fact, spend money on players, coaches, etc. Whether that involved 'liquidation' of assets or 'petty cash' is unknowable.

We don't even know what percentage of the Blazers Dundon will own, do we? My impression is that it will not be 100%.

Seattle sports podcaster and NHL broadcast host (Kraken). I've heard of him over the years. I'd assume he knows about NHL, and by extension, a litle about the owners of NHL teams. I don't know if he has any anti-Dundon agenda, and I don't know if Aldo is quoting him or not. Non-Portland perspectives may add something to the discussion...or not

I guess the Seattle kraken radio announcer was fired by him when he was with Carolina. He was like their Bill Schonley. So he mentioned that was a cheap ass move firing him, and some other shit he heard

Its not that someone has a negative opinion about the team, it's when someone *only* has negative opinions about the team and does it for attention/shtick.

I just wanted to know who he was, someone with actual information or just random dude.

He used to do local radio in PDX. Now does local radio and calls the Seattle Kraken. It’s actual information. It may or may not be 100% accurate. But he knows both Portland and the NHL

Correct, we even have a mod of all people that does that 24/7, always looking for a reaction.

it’s kinda sad if you ask me

John Canzano does local radio. Doesn't mean he's not a schmuck.

What can I say? It's sad, but true: SlyPokerDog is an attention whore.

And don't suggest therapy, believe me, we've sent him to the best obedience schools.

The group also now includes the Cherng Family Trust, according to the estate’s announcement. Andrew Cherng co-founded Panda Express with his wife Peggy Tsiang Cherng. The family has a net worth of $7.5 billion, according to Forbes, which would make them the wealthiest investors in Dundon’s group.

OMG, WHEN THE BLAZERS SCORE OVER 100pts WE'RE GOING TO GET FREE PANDA EXPRESS! :Sly:

"The deal, which The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported earlier this month, is expected to close by the end of the year with a valuation of $4.25 billion, according to a source close to the transaction."

so...by the end of the year....might make the trade deadline kind of ointeresting

I've seen here and I believe one other tweet that said by end of the season, not calendar year. Unsure which is more accurate
