If it is actually someone that will make PA say yes easily, then I don't think an Aldridge for Iggy type of swap is really going to get it done. Iguodola doesn't jump off the page to Allen as someone to make us a top team. I think Parker would jump off the page a bit more. Paul obviously would. I think Dirk would, and would make us a legit title threat next season. Harris doesn't really seem like a job saver. Granger could be, but again, does that make PA think we're there?

I just don't see either of those as saving KP's job. They'd both perhaps be decent additions, but is adding Jameer Nelson going to make Paul Allen re-think KP, if adding Miller, Camby, etc. has not? I don't think so. It's unlikely something will happen. Trading for an all star is tough to do. But it says it'd be someone Allen wouldn't be able to turn down. Neither of those guys says that to me like Parker. Or Dirk. A big name, basically.

I thought the same thing. Plus Bayless plays good 'D' which is essential to a Popovich system. Maybe Webster( They need a 3 point guy), Bayless, Joel and a future 1 for Parker. Would SA do that? I doubt it, but it does help SA improve their terrible bench with a lot more firepower plus he Webster may start in SA system. IMO Parker puts us into the 2nd round, Western finals, or Finals. The guy is tough to guard and passes very well. We would have Miller as a backup PG which would be a bench luxery and a great trade chip over the year if needed.

Granger makes about $12 million a year. We would likely have to have a big expiring contract...plus young talent. It would likely be Rudy, Batum, Joel Contract, Bayless.....dunno if that would even work.

The team wants to shed some contracts that expire at the end of next season, but doesn't want to take on any big contracts from other teams in return, the paper reports.

The Pacers have the 10th pick in the June 24 draft, so they could use that pick to replace the forward slot Murphy could leave empty. But the Star notes that it is more likely the team will trade the pick to fill its need at point guard, adding that the Pacers have spoken to "more than 20 teams about possible trades."

I'm virtually certain they'd have to trade Batum to get Granger. Granger is still the centerpiece of the Pacers; I've seen no indication that they want to "blow it up" by trading Granger. But if they did, I think a very young, extremely promising wing like Batum would be one of the main players they'd want back. They might ask for Batum and Bayless (or even more). Considering I'd think long and hard on Batum for Granger, I wouldn't deal more in addition.

Also, I don't think Portland would run a Batum/Roy/Granger backcourt even if they could hold onto Batum. It's just too unconventional, IMO.

My guess is Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire. The reason being, everybody knows Bosh won't be back to Toronto, but will want a max deal so that means sign and trade. The reasoning behind Stoudemire is that he has said he doesn't think he will be back since Kerr left. One of them will join Wade in Miami or go to Chicago. The other, will go somewhere else.

I am thinking Amare, if anyone.

Contracts have to match. LMA would do it, but he's BYC. It will have to be a fairly large salary deal on both sides to make it work.

I guess that's why I called it a left field idea; I love Nic and I think he's got a bright, bright future ahead of him, but I do wonder if the Blazers would ever consider trotting out a huge unconventional backcourt where Brandon is the playmaker (with Nic a possibility given his role with his national team) and then Granger and Nic space the floor with their shot and Nic takes the opponent's point guard on defense. Granted that would be a crazy ass look and I'm not sure it would work. I agree a more traditional point-guard who can play off the ball is probably a better idea.

Not without the NBA investigating tampering charges. Teams can't talk to agents or players until July 1st. Players can't keep their mouths shut. Twitter, facebook or something would come out. Won't be a Bosh, Amare, LeBron or Wade. I think Chris Paul, Iggy, or Tony Parker are more realistic, even though it would be tough to get any of those three without losing Batum IMO. Parker is probably our best shot, but he would be expensive. They won't dump him for expiring contracts only and Rudy is not a Popovich kind of player.

I believe if you are incorrect on that. You do your talking through the team the player still belongs to. Teams that these players are under contract can still sign a new deal with these guys any time they want. They can also carry the communication of intention to the players agent for sign and trades to take place. So for instance, we would talk to Toronto and tell them we were interested in Bosh for sign and trade, and give them our proposal. They would then approach the agent and propose the deal and location of the trade, and see if they will bite. As long as the Blazers don't have direct contact with the player, there is no tampering.
