buyout after trade deadline and he is a blazer for the minimum. watch.Batum must mean bargain in french.
He turned stauskas into rodney hood.
Gabriel might be something.
Seth Curry was a massive addition.
this is the definition of pedantic given the premise of this thread about bargain huntinghe turned the salary of Stauskas plus Wade Baldwin plus two send round picks into Hood. But that Stauskas salary could have been invested in a better player to start with
Curry was not signed with a vet minimum deal. He and Gary Trent were signed using parts of the MLE (Blazers used the MLE on Trent so they could sign him for 3 years, IIRC)

there are always fairly decent players who sign for vet minimums every off-season. Olshey managed to avoid all of them when he signed Tolliver and Hezonja. Didn't do much better the year before with Stauskas. Melo may have been a one off
so, the vet minimum bargain bin is one bin he's not been very good at rummaging thru

Bonne affaire!Batum must mean bargain in french.
Good luck with that!I would target two bargain basement players splitting our MLE between Michael Carter Williams because he is the backup PG we have been sorely needing and can defend both guard positions and Nerlens Noel as our backup big because he protects the paint and is athletic enough to get out on stretch bigs.
More on Isaac Bonga - he seems to make a big impact in very limited minutes. If we were ready to give up on Anfernee, the Wizards would probably swap Bonga for him, and I think that might be a swap that benefits both teams.

Sort of seems like a slightly-richer-man's Wenyen Gabriel. But I say you can't have too many Wenyen Gabriels!
In regards to bacup PG, I'd have to take another look at the exact substitution patterns, but I think some of our struggles could be alleviated if we swapped the early substitution times of Dame and CJ. Usually CJ sits end of 1st, and Dame sits beginning of the 2nd. I'd love to see Dame start the game, establish a rhythym, then get a break towards end of 1, and come back at beginning of 2 with the bench unit the way CJ usually does. Let CJ attack at end of 1, but with a few starters potentially out there.
Basically, Dame should get the bench PG minutes, CJ should have to have either Nurk or Dame out there with him always.

I would freaking love to have Dragić. He would transform our bench into a monsters. Imagine him with Trent, Hood, and Collins off of the bench. But he probably will sign some kind of one year deal with the heat. But maybe Nurkic and Hezonja are recruiting him hardPlenty of C available for vet minimum.
I would target the best full MLE free agent max 4 years first instead of splitting it. Ideally a big wing like Jeremi Grant although now he probably makes too much. Would Dragic sign for full MLE? Probably not but he would form our best guard rotation since Ainge.
I'm sure we could get Zoran Dragic if we wanted.I would freaking love to have Dragić. He would transform our bench into a monsters. Imagine him with Trent, Hood, and Collins off of the bench. You all are JOKING about getting Dragic... right? I mean, you do know how important he is to the Heat?
Oh boy is this post gonna trend.....I just want this season over and done with so, hopefully, a better roster can be constructed.
Me?? Zero hope for that and next season successes. A few teams would be interested in CJ but I think we wouldn't get a net positive return. Only REAL trade value Portland has is Dame. Nobody wants a guy like Nurkic, I love him but bigs without speed and real altheticism, or 3 pt shooting (Nards!) aren't valued unless its a unicorn like Jokic. Portland is in a bad position. Feel the worst for Dame who only is getting older. Maybe 3 years, maybe, of godlike Dame. Thanks Neil. Those awful contracts...
You watch a team like Miami in awe compared to Portland's iso ball. Iso is great for a last shot at the half but isn't efficient enough to go the distance as any Blazer fan can attest. That covers Stoffence, as for the Tefence, that's a whole nother shitshow.
What happened to Stanley Johnson? Remember the draft when he and Justise Winslow were supposed to be competing for who would be the star SF of the next decade? How come both of them flamed out? Now Johnson's a FA. I wonder if Toronto want to keep him.
EDIT: I see somebody else asking the same question:
For backup PG, I’d be okay with Shabazz Napier back. Knows the offense and is a feisty defender
And would that be a positive or negative for our chances of getting him?But maybe Nurkic and Hezonja are recruiting him hard
Could he be a small-ball 4? It kind of sounds like his attitude is the problem.I’ll take wings who can’t shoot for 2000, Alex.
I dunno - that would depress me a little. I'd like to find somebody who could become something better. And besides, I think Jaylen Adams was signed with an eye to the future. (But mainly because he didn't do anything in the present: contrast with the Suns' bubble signee Cameron Payne.)For backup PG, I’d be okay with Shabazz Napier back.
