Re: (Merged) Noon Pacific/Post Deadline Thread

Yeah! We need someone like Steve Kerr who likes to make deals!! :dunno:

Trading just to make a trade is stupid, you guys know it.

What does that have to do with anything? The Suns don't need to consolidate talent like we do. We had the best trading chip of all this deadline and didn't use it. that is a colossal FAIL. We could have gotten Gerald Wallace (who fit PERFECTLY with our team) if we would have just taken back Nazr and his contract or given them Batum. I guess you forgot about a guy named Webster who when he comes back will either A. never play, or B. make Batum go to the bench. Moving Batum would have hurt, but who cares when yoru getting back Gerald F'ing Wallace.

PG: Blake/Bayless
SG: Roy/Rudy
SF: Wallace/Webster
PF: LMA/Outlaw
C: Oden/Pryz

:sigh:

Re: NOTICE: Post-Trade Deadline Reactions

Still got some time for stuff to trickle in but I am indeed surprised Raef wasnt moved...yet

Which specific trade do you know of that was passed on by KP that would take the Blazers to "the elite level"?

We could have had Gerald Wallace if we only would have parted with Nicolas Batum. Are you freakin' kidding me? It's a BEST CASE scenario if Batum even approaches Gerald Wallace's level ever.

Can you imagine having a guy who actually knows how to draw fouls and finish in the paint? I mean, as awesome as it was to see us throw up perimeter jumpshot after jumpshot against Memphis in the second half last night as we nearly crapped the bed against a team who only has three road wins all year, you've got to imagine Wallace would have made us leaps and bounds better.

Re: NOTICE: Post-Trade Deadline Reactions

Obviously the Blazers didn't receive any offer that blew them away, so instead they will take that cash savings for the rest of the year on RLEC while the teams that also didn't do anything (Bucks, Nets, Bobcats) can continue to lose money hand over fist until this summer. This will put these teams in an even weaker bargaining position this summer, and the Blazers are still likely to make the playoffs, get some experience there, and see who they can fleece after the season.

I have no problems with this scenario. :dunno:

Re: The "So Disappointed/Gimmie Back my last 3 days" Thread

Ike for Mike..are you kidding me?
Yet we still have a PG and SF logjam and we have been sputtering the last month... :sigh:
We could have really boosted our team in the short term without mortgaging our future and we failed, epically.

Log Jam? We barely have two that are healthy at SF (One plays mostly PF) and for the last three weeks we barely had 2 PGs'.

I agree that we should have roled the dice with Raef's and Frye's contract, but I see no log jams.

IMO this is in the same realm as letting major free agent walk for nothing. You had a player who isn't worth jack shit, who is suddenly, somehow through a miracle of the economy, worth a god damned lot, and then you don't cash in, even though that guy won't be worth anything from here on out. People may say that "deals can still be done on this salary cap until June 30" but that doesn't matter. Because the facts are, most of Raefs salary will be paid by then. There is nothing for an owner to gain at that point besides some cap relief.

Folks don't seem to understand that half of the value of Raef was the fact his salary was paid this year by insurance. That was a big chip, almost increasing his value by 80% over just an expiring contract. By June 30 there will only be a few days of his salary left. Now its worth nothing.:sigh:

Re: NOTICE: Post-Trade Deadline Reactions

I'm fine with no deal. Travis is clutch and only 24 years old.

comeon, in pritch we trust right? blind fucking trust to pritch. fuck this, we have to call a spade a spade, he dropped the fucking ball here. we're not gonna have the 2009 plan this summer...what, with all this imaginary cap space that was reduced and the shitty FA class?

Come on man we are gonna get someone great in the FA class! In KP we trust! He's the man! Rookies lead you to championships!

How can people be so delusional and think we didn't drop the ball. we had the best trading asset there was. We aren't gonna get a Carter or Wallace this offseason. While I like Josh Childress (not a fan of Sessions) I don't think he would be as good for us as Wallace.

According to rumors, Raef was more valuable the Amare.

And we got nothing for him.

Great work there, KP.

Re: (Merged) Noon Pacific/Post Deadline Thread

Awesome. I love having a general manager who is scared shitless to make impact deals to take us to the elite level.

You don't. You have a GM that knows that none of the deals he was actually offered would have done that.

Clearly you wish you had the Dallas GM that felt he HAD to trade for Kidd and gave away Devin Harris to do so.

I'm surprised that someone hasn't said that the Kings are the best team in the NBA now based solely on them being able to make a lot of trades.

This comment is freakin ridiculous. Anyone here who wanted a trade didn't just want a trade for the sake of a trade. We wanted a trade because we were holding a gun with a single silver bullet in it, the only stipulation was that we had to fire it by today at noon. Now we lose a can't-miss opportunity for a hope and a prayer that some miracle from heaven will force some team to hand us over their best player for nothing somewhere down the road.

Exactly why I'm not getting all suicidal over this. We have NO IDEA what offers were REALLY out there that he supposedly "turned down."

It's an asset, not a firesale. So KP didn't get the deal that he wanted, live with it.

If we are energized by keeping the team together and we finish strong, awesome
but
if we continue to play like shit, like we have this past month, and sneak in or miss out, i'll be pissed
Its a decision we can't judge until the season is over

So you believe the Kings are worse off for having made those deals? Or are you arguing that only trades that bring you an immediate title are acceptable?

:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Dude completely different scenarios. Kidd was like 35 and on the downside of his career. Is Gerald Wallace on the downside of his career? Hell no, he is still in our age window.

John Strong on The Game just reported that KP just said at practice that "these are his guys and he's sticking with them". Sounds to me like we didnt make a deal.

I wanted them too, but if we are calling a spade a spade, neither of those two are getting us to the championship either. They would simply get us in to the playoffs this year

I'm disappointed we didn't land Wallace or Butler (everyone else I could do without) but am I disappointed in KP or our front office? I have NO F'ING IDEA. Why? Cause I have absolutely NO IDEA what offers were made, what those two teams wanted for those players. Hell, for all we know, they may have been asking for BRANDON ROY or LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE. What the hell do we know? We sit here and read 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand reports and some rumors that are flat out made up and think "Oh wow! We can have this player for an expiring contract and spare change?!?"

What is the worst deal you can think of that you would still do? What if our offers were worse than that? What if all this was talk to try to drive up the price from other teams but really the financial situation was blown WAY OUT OF PROPORTION? What if teams weren't actually willing to give up their stars for just savings? What if NJ was asking for Outlaw, RLEC, Bayless, Rudy and a pick for Carter? Would you do that? What if they wanted Lamarcus Aldridge and RLEC? I wouldn't do either of those, especially if I actually had to pay the guy. That's a huge amount of money for a breaking down, no D playing star.

So, while I know it won't, I hope this will change some of your minds to realize WE KNOW NOTHING.

(1) How do you know we had the best trading asset there was? You don't ACTUALLY know what we were offered.
(2) Maybe a lot of GMs now don't want to deal with Pritchard. That happens. I remember when Kevin McHale refused a perfectly decent Gugliotta-to-the-Lakers trade and just let Gugliotta walk, because it was the Lakers.
(3) I trust KP's opinion of whether or not Wallace would be good for this team (or good enough to be worth it) more than I trust posters on this board's opinion.

Well no but there could be legitimate concerns about his multiple concussions. But that would not explain the other trades not being accepted.

It's all about adding pieces, Wallace is the perfect fit at SF. How can you pass that up? With him it makes us a top 3 team in the West. WTF are we gonna do with our picks this draft? Draft guys to fill imaginary roster spots?

I hope he didn't try to sell it like "I wouldn't trade you guys for ANYTHING!" because that would just be cheesy and nobody would buy that.

let's look at KP's track record;
1. traded up in draft and turned Tyrus Thomas rights and victor for the rights to LA
2. traded seabass and ratliff for the #7 pick
3. traded that pick for Roy
4. traded cash for sergio
5. traded cash for rudy
6. traded back up in draft for batum

yes he could have made a splash but he's on record as saying he doesn't like mid season trades. i think he deserves a little more respect than he's being given here. this guy has transformed a team of punks into the 2nd youngest team in the league that is fighting for HCA in the playoffs.
