Nurk and RoCo made available in trade talks

Well I'm sure these rumors will really help the teams focus, effort and overall performance... God help us all.
The team isn’t going anywhere as constructed anyways. Time to evaluate and get the right pieces in and start fresh next season. To me, this is already a lost season. If they keep playing this poorly, we’ll realistically be in the running for a top 10 draft pick, which can only help.

First we hear that Joe and Cj have been talking.

Now we hear he’s not a part of this available player group

this is going to end in disappoint, isn’t it.
Fire Cronin right now if this is true. Nurk and Roco may not be playing to potential, but if Cronin can’t see that the biggest thing holding this team back is CJ “the Human Turnstile” McCollum, then he needs to go as well. This team will never sniff a championship (or even a WCF again) with this midget backcourt.

Fischer just said Roco + Nurk for Sabonis is more intriguing from the Pacers' perspective than a deal with Detroit for Jerami Grant. He cited that having bird rights for our expiring dudes could be of value to Indy.
This would be fucking great. Then call up the Sixers and negotiate down from CJ 3 picks and 3 swaps. Get Simmons for CJ 2 pick (2026 pick top 4 protected) and 2 swaps.

Dame, Norm, Simmons, Larry, Sabonis with Ant, Nas, Snell, eventually Zeller. I think we could do something special with that group.

Nurk & RoCo for Sabonis would be great, but no way Indy/Pritchard would make that deal. That the kind of deal NO tried to orchestrate then wondered why couldn't get it done.

Except our new GM isn't hated by Indiana's front office like our old one was.....

I've long thought we'd need to trade cj in the off-season to a terrible team with a lot of cap room, like the Knicks. His contract is absurd.

Well, if anyone can figure out how to move CJ it's Cronin

Jay Williams suggested the Blazers trade Damian for Kyrie, since Dame is "asking" for that extension (which he can't yet anyways). And it gives Kyrie a chance to play (which he has said he would retire if he played elsewhere). So dumb how they're so desperate to get Damian to play in a big market, instead of, oh I don't know, Kyrie just getting vaccinated.

This is like selling off parts of a company. You can get something good back by dealing them all pretty much separately.

I look at it this way. These guys all together COULD be a decent team. On paper, it's a little length from being pretty good. But it's stale. It's pretty apparent there are diminishing returns and a lot of these guys have declined even before Chauncey arrived.

However, IMO, by dealing them, you can acquire the pieces to put around Dame to be a contender. And I mean pretty much everyone other than Dame. I want to keep Nas, too. Beyond that, everyone else is largely replaceable.

Nurk is playing like he knows he’s being traded.

Totally checked out and is on auto-pilot
Nurk sucks. Too many people here give his inconsistent play a pass because when all the stars align he’s dominant. Trade his whiny ass.

once weekly nurkic.

dude is a beast once every three games or so.

Really? How do you know that?

oh its just my opinion. I just dont think they would get rid of an All Star big for two good players. Sabonis is one of the better bigs in the league imo. He does it all.

My prediction for starting lineup and first off the bench after the trade deadline

Nance
Simmons
Nas
Norm
Dame

Grant
Simons
If that's Jerami Grant, he's definitely starting over our guy Nas. I would like that team though.

Nurkic fever now seems like such a long time ago. I thought he was going to be a sabonis caliber player for us. But he often has the vibe of a kid being forced to play.

Nurk with 0 Blocks, 0 Steals and 8 Turnovers in 34 minutes. I was told he was a Defensive juggernaut when on the floor.

Since the rumors and coming off the bench Roco is playing his best most engaged ball of the season. Like maybe he's trying to play himself onto another team.

Nurkic seems to be doing the opposite. In the Hornets game the Blazers played so much better when Nurk went to the bench it was like someone flipped a switch.

This “Fire Cronin” if so and so is true when no one has a clue what is true just goes to show you how toxic some of you guys are! The man isn’t on the job more than two weeks..you can’t make this shit up how hilarious some of you are

I think the players we need to trade are CJ and Zeller. I don't wanna think how we'll plummet whrn they make their return to the lineup

It's not like having a 30 million player as the 6th man makes any difference vs him starting. It still counts the same.

The only thing that matters is wins.

I think that frames the problem incorrectly. There are some key questions that need to be answered first.

Is CJ good enough to be a starter? Yes.

Should CJ be starting next to Dame? Not if you want to win a championship.

Is CJ worth 30 million a year? Debatable. To some teams he is.

Should CJ be making 30 million a year on the Blazers? No. He should not be our second highest paid player. The fact that he's making that much money and is arguably our second best player is why we're in this mess.

It's like some weird paradox where CJ would be best suited as a 6th man on this team, but that would mean that we have a talented enough starting five to move him to the bench.... but if he was a 6th man he wouldn't be making 30 million a year. I think he's probably too talented to be a 6th man. He should be starting, just not for the Blazers.

I'm fine with him being the 2nd highest paid player, just he shouldn't be in the same zip code, let alone area code, as Damians salary.

The duo won't win them any titles though.

CJ is terrible, he allows twice as many points as he scores, he isn't worth 30 million to any team and no one would trade for him unless its for another bad player who is hurting his team and is overpaid like for example Bertans from the Wizards.
Our only hope is to move him to the bench where there are better defenders like my man Tony Snell but I don't see that as working either.
Right now I'm just hoping he stays sidelined for as long as possible cause the game he's back, we're being blown out again.
His last game was the Celtics game, ever since he's been injured, we've been playing much better

Ahh certainty without evidence sure makes people seem brilliant.

Check out the numbers by players he's been guarding, I know there's such a stat but don't know how to find it. Excluding small sample sizes, he's probably the worst in the league.
Basketball is played on both ends of the floor and CJ is a minus player fot an NBA team

That would be a dream. Hearing anything, or just wishful thinking? I struggle to see how we move CJ, Nurk, Roco for those 2, even with picks involved, but I'd love to see it.
