We absolutely cannot let some fleeting win streak influence the direction of the team. That’s how we got locked into mediocrity with the Turner, Harkless, Leonard and Crabbe deals that derailed 4 years of Dames prime. If this was Olshey, we would be signing veterans on the buyout market now…
 
This takes a lot of pressure off Chauncey. Everyone knows that no matter what happens the rest of the season, they more than likely will have Dame, Little, and Nurk to add next year. Much better atmosphere for the players as well even if they are losing. I still think they will play hard and win some games, but Nurk was playing really well during this small win streak. Hard to imagine that they will play as well without him.

i think he was in croatia during the all-star break

seems like a tank move, trail blazers already said they want to re-sign him and he wants to stay (it would be stupid to agree to this, if you havent sorted your next contract and this could affect offers he gets from other teams)

maybe im tripping, but perhaps they already agreed to a new contract, which hell sign in free agency

i understand the Klutch element, but is this legal?

i know they have a hard deadline for rookie extensions, not sure of non-rookie ones.

Maybe another announcement is coming?

You don’t think back door negotiations don’t happen in the NBA? Nothing will be official until pen is on paper but the structure is probably done.
 
After one month, if our record is bad. There’s no need to play Nurk. Same as Dame. They just need to continue to extreme tank mode.

oh of course they do. I'm just wondering if they can announce a possible extension today. Could change our calculus in free agency moves given the order of operations.

my guess is it was done/agreed during the break. Eubanks said he knew a week ago he’d be coming to Portland. It’s also when they got Watfords deal done, so not really that much of a stretch.

wasn't he an RFA and had a finite limit into how big of an extension he could get. Dallas gave him the most they could.

Not sure if this applies to Nurk?

pretty sure he was gonna be an UFA
 
4/65 is like 17 million average and can start at like 15M. Ideally I’d like his contract be around this mark since the first year cap hit is lower than his 18M cap hold. Looks like it’s gonna be a larger contract though, 4/80?
