A healthy, physically fit Nurk would be light years better than where we were at the beginning of last year. It would free up Dame and CJ to run riot. And then if we can just draft a true athletic small forward PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD wifh an improved Vonleh....

We'd be cooking with gravy baby!
 
Speaking of Vonleh, has anyone heard if he's working out or working on improving his game?
 
Vonleh actually gave us a real taste of what he's capable of last year. We all kind of gave him some extra rope because he is so young and is physically a beast. Now that he is maturing and maybe learning how to use his frame, we should see a more confident player on both ends of the court. Obviously Nurkic opens up space for Vonleh... so that helps.

He had some monster rebounding games last year that really surprised me.

He also really does have a good feel for where the ball is going to come off the rim. That's a gift.

If he turns into a good player along with Nurk and we have to max them both and don't have the money.... I will pull all my hair out with a pair of rusty pliers. If one of them goes to LA or The Spurs or GS I will just get a smiling Doc Rivers tattoo on my back.

They're both RFAs. Portland can match and/or go over the cap to sign them. Haven't we been over this before, or was that someone else?

I knew Nurkic was a RFA but didn't know if Vonleh was. Man he was young when he was drafted.

Both of them are 22...they're not going to get max money but they'll probably get Allen Crabbe money...everybody in the NBA is getting a pay raise.

I don't think so...he hasn't the resume to get a max deal yet...next time around yes but now he has to show a season of domination before he's in Lebron territory...he'd get the max on a lottery team if that's what he wanted.

Man, The NBA is not going to be worth watching if "Good Players" want max contracts.
I mean I get what you are saying, but this is getting ridiculous. Max Contracts should be left to the superstars and All Stars. Nurk may become an all star one day, but I doubt before he re-signs, and Vonleh doesnt have a chance. And I think they are part of our future, but max?

His max would be less than lebrons max. He's getting the max man. Watch Nerlens Noel's contract this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gave him the max. Brooklyn for example. We just need to accept that contracts will rarely line up with a players real worth. Everyone is going to be overpaid. It is what it is.

I meant hypothetically. I think if Nurk hits his ceiling then yes. Vonleh is probably a borderline starter no matter how hard he trains. But Nurk I can see getting paid.
 
It all depends on what sort of year they both have. Fit Nurk and Noah with some added development and stroke. Yes please. With Vonleh I've always had the feeling that it's all mental with him, get over that hurdle and it's happy days!

Dallas plans to offer the max, they want him long term.

It would have to have a real twist ending to be different from the one whose chapters we've already read. He would have to have a transformation that normally only happens when you've been visited by 4 different ghosts.

As sure as one can be given the facts and circumstances. I certainly don't recall any reports of other teams showing interest in him at a comparable figure. The fact that he didn't agree to his deal with us until the end of the moratorium suggests pretty strongly that there weren't any other teams interested in giving him a similar deal.
