It seems like the majority want CP3 but don't want to give up Batum and Oden.

My question is, why the HELL would NO want him? He hasn't played a full season and he is up for an extension. My peeps have told me CLEV is interested if the Blazers don't re-sign him by next year. I know he is a RFA. But CLEV may over pay to get a local kid.

I just don't see NO getting into a big contract with someone who is risky at best. If they shed Okafor I doubt they invest in Greg.

I think the Blazers will sweeten the pot w/ 2-3 1st RND picks including the usual suspects.

Maybe you convince NO to look at it this way: they are giving up Paul, but they are getting a guy who was once mega-hyped. Maybe that will convince the fans this wasn't a pure salary dump. He is still on his rookie deal, so no short term harm. If it doesn't work out, they just let him walk and save $$.

Why the hell would we want him?

Well, he has the potential to be a dominant force when healthy. When healthy, he has displayed DPOY type calibre defense, a high rebounding rate, shotblocking skills, power/strength, low-post passing, decent footwork, etc.

CP3 might make us better record-wise, but a big man who has potential like Oden is the difference between a contender and a playoff team.

Plus, they already have Darren Collinson who can score and pass well enough to not take too much of a loss in trading CP3.

(a) Oden is not the deal-breaker for NO precisely because of his looming contract extension (I had to put that "contract" in there, because Oden's looming extension means something else) and injury history

Neither has played a full season healthy. Both will be up for extensions soon.

Why would any team want either player?
