Si.com on Saric:

Dario Saric, SF, Croatia (No. 13 in SI.com's latest Mock Draft): While draft boards across the league will fluctuate wildly over the next few weeks, many agree on this: Saric is the most talented international import. An Eastern Conference executive described Saric as "skilled beyond his years"; a Western Conference talent evaluator said Saric is "the best passing big man in the draft"; and several personnel men cited his diverse offensive repertoire as proof that the 19-year-old Saric will be able to play right away.
Perhaps more important, Saric has the drive to get better. "He's a workaholic," a scout said. "He lives in the gym. With his basketball IQ, you're talking about a kid with All-Star potential."

He sounds like a Popovich type of player. I think he's a darkhorse at #10. He's also getting serious consideration by the Pelicans at #6. He's been to Portland twice and spoke highly of the city -- reminds him of his hometown of Zagreb, Croatia - "only taller".

Just watched Once Brothers again...this whole post makes him sound eerily similar to Drazen Petrovic.

Then again, how many players from the area were also eerily similar? I'm not shitting on Saric, because if anyone claims to know his game on this board, they're talking out their ass. I'm just still reeling from the years of prospects like Tskitishvili and Korolev.

BTW - Am I the only one that wants to see Mike Bruesewitz get a crack at the league? His numbers weren't there, but he was the heart and soul of the Badgers for the last two or three seasons. Let's at least give the guy a Big 10 analyst position...

Although a back up PF is certainly not my first or second choice, I get this uneasy feeling that in a couple of years we will regret not taking him. But that is just based on blogs posts like the one above. Sounds like he is too slow to be a wing so PF it is. But most of the video I have seen of him are a couple of years old. can he rebound and play D?

We need depth everywhere, so again best player available...... even if it is a boring pick.

well, I don't want to rain on probasketballtalk's parade, but if you're Flip Saunders didn't know that MIN needed a SG then I don't know how you got hired. :dunno:

NBA source tells me Georgia wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will work out for Blazers on Monday.

Chris Haynes: 6-10 PF Jared Berggren, 23, (Wisconsin) and 6-4 SG Sherwood Brown, 21, (Florida Gulf Coast) two prospects working out for #Blazers Monday.

Jazz player personnel guru Walt Perrin liked Zeller's athleticsim during his pre-draft workout.

It's an important draft workout when Blazers owner Paul Allen attends. The big man is in the house today to watch G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Still remember when he was in awe of Martell Webster's workout (as was most everyone else).

#Blazers owner Paul Allen observing G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope very closely. This is his first workout citing.

I wonder how much value teams put give these workouts. I hope not much . . . maybe more on the interaction they have with them to gauge their personality and if they would be a good fit for the Blazer organization.

Too much value (at least in the past) if you go off my Martell Webster mention.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope said today's workout w/#Blazers is his second, already went to Minny. Said he has seven more on tap.

Chris Haynes ‏@ChrisBHaynes 3m
I asked G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope if he was nervous with Paul Allen watching him. He said he didn't even know he was there, was focused.

K&P tats for potential #Blazers lottery pick Kentavious Caldwell-Pope @ Trail Blazers Practice Facility

You literally couldn't give a better answer to that question

Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman 3m
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope went out to dinner with members of the #Blazers management team last night. But owner Paul Allen did not attend.

John Canzano ‏@JohnCanzanoBFT 50s
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope talks about Blazers workout on @750thegame. Also, Indy Star columnist @bkravitz and former LB Chad Brown join me

Pope sure seems a lot like a slimmer Wes Matthews. Would be great off the bench, but seems a bit of a reach at 10. Maybe they think they can get a later pick for $$. He does post very nice rebounding and steals numbers.

I would have liked......"Not really, I'm a Mac guy!"

Sam Amico ‏@SamAmicoFSO 11s
Thunder working out Pittsburgh C Steven Adams. He's definitely a draft candidate for them at 12. May not last that long, though.

I think he'll sneak into the top 10.

Isn't he a turn over machine? Some of these centers I was reading about (Gobert, Adams) are horrible passers. Those skills don't always improve. That is a concern if they want to play big minutes.

He is but I attribute that to just how raw he is. Only 19, he has Greg Oden size. Their combine numbers are nearly identical.
