Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

That's what happens when you turn a Big 3 into a Big 2 and one of them goes down. If they still had Harden, they'd be cruising.

Such a horrible, horrible trade for them. If that were the Blazers, this place would have gone nuclear.

While I hate to see anyone injured, I'm so glad Clay and Aubrey were too damn cheap to keep Harden. That team was a dynasty in the making. All they really had to do to keep Harden was to amnesty Perkins and eat his $8.5 million/year contract. But, they didn't want to eat Perkins contract and pay him not to play, so they kept him (and his 6.1 PER, 3 PTS/G and 4 REB/G) and sent Harden packing. I said it was a stupid move at the time. They could have easily replaced Perkins' "production" with any D-League stiff on a min contract and resigned Harden. I do love the fact that their own cheapness cost them a dynasty.

I still think they should have traded Westbrook instead of Harden. At the time he was by far the bigger star, and they could have fetched a better trade for him. Plus, if he continues to have knee problems, it will quickly rob him of the athleticism that makes him the player that he is. Not sure if he'll be all that good if he can't drive.

Yep. You replace Westbrook with a PG like Beverley, and OKC is just fine.

The thing is, they didn't have to trade either of them (but yeah, given the choice I would have moved Westbrook over Harden) . It was strictly a cost saving maneuver. They overpaid Ibaka, but their steadfast refusal to amnesty Perkins was what really forced them to move Harden.

Westbrooks first injury was in the playoffs last year long after the trade; he had pristine injury history at that point.

I think they overreacted to Harden chocking in the finals and decided to send him packing. I also think they were very arrogant from their success in drafting those three and Ibaka. They just assumed they could find more players like them on rookie contracts.

Westbrook is one of the top couple PG's in this league. His individual shooting stats suck, but kind of like LaMarcus it causes a defense to be so out of place the rest of the players can be extremely efficient. Think of it as the "Lopez" effect for rebounding except his is for scoring. In the playoffs and again this year we're seeing without Westbrook all the other players on that roster are struggling to create efficient offense.

Any fool could see that Westbrook is a problem though. He genuinely thinks he's the best player on the team. If they dealt him for someone like Paul when the Hornets were looking to move him, they could have added a point guard that actually makes everyone around him better.

Exactly; when you can use simple tricks and nonsense to get into a guy's head, he's mentally weak. Westbrook has a huge inferiority complex, and takes over games to show everyone how awesome he is.

Oh come now. I was calling Westbrook a ballhog three years ago, but even I don't think he can be easily replaced by a Patrick Beverley.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Every Pacer game I've been to this season, Lance has balled out.

I paid $3.99 for tix tonight.

lol

Beverley is a better fit with Harden and probably also Durant than a ballhog like Westbrook. Beverley's defensive-minded, physical, and can get out of the way when Harden and Durant take over.

Beverley is playing with 2 Team USA players, and his team is 26-14. Beverley is an average NBA PG, and his assists/36 of 2.6 is horrific for an NBA PG. Throw in his 107 Drtg (compared to 100 for Westbrook), and I have to chuckle.

So am I for OKC or Houston?

I'm of the mindset of hoping for HCA in the first round (not best record in the West). I love being above OKC, but Westbrook will be back before we know it and with the Blazers schedule . . . I think I want to see Houston get cemented into 5-8 spot.

Because OKC will be getting back Westbrook, I need to go for Houston tonight, and then have them start losing.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Houston is 4-1 in their last 5 games w/out Beverley. Maybe he needs to come back soon and put Brooks back out of the rotation?

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Aaron Brooks is on fire. Perhaps Patrick Beverley will be available via trade?

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

OKC is very average w/out Westbrook. The Blazers need to win at OKC this next trip. 73 points given up in the first half? Wow!

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

People talking about us on a skid as of late. OKC has looked like shit the last 8 games or so.

I know you're taunting me for liking Beverley but he shuts Lillard down. I'd love his defense on our team.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Terrence Jones pisses me off. He's so North Portland. Freakin jive.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I really dislike Phoenix. They're a bunch of punks. Especially the Morris twins. They're dirty.

I don't fault them for it. When you're really not that talented you gotta find advantages wherever you can.

Can it get any worse for Tpup fans?

Rube Chat to be shut down and now Rubes are looking for a replacement forum.

Denny, offer an invite to S2? :devilwink:

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Complete meltdown!

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

19 points for the Rockets in the 2nd half with 1 minutes left in the game?? How does that happen?
