Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

NOP pick is only top5 protected. Philly could have the best young roster in the league by the summer.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Depends on which Westbrook you get. He is a very good player but he thinks he is the #1 option and better then Durant.

Exactly! He'd definitely help them win these regular season games against lesser competition (although every good team, even at full strength, occasionally loses to a few below .500 opponents - it's a LONG season), but his problem is freezing out Durant in the 4th quarter of close games. Of course, without him, they aren't having many close games - they are getting owned by lesser teams right now.

That face...

I thought it was an incredibly cheap shot, unbelievably stupid and totally uncalled for at the time at the time, I'm beginning to see where Metta Wold Peace was coming from. That's a face just begging to be punched.

Yes it is.

Jrue Holliday out with fractured ankle.

This whole theory about playing a lot of minutes leads to injury and fatigue is BS IMO. Its more freak occurances and based on a player's own body, not how many minutes they play.

That team is snake bitten.

Ryan Anderson.
Jrue Holiday.

Gordon is always out for one reason or another. So is Davis.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Jrue is on my fantasy team. I have to see it out to see if I need to drop him or not...proably.

Yeah I'd be interested if someone did analysis on this, I tend to suspect they aren't linked either but I really don't know.

I do know overtraining can cause a loss of muscle, built up fatigue on the body, and a loss of performance. So playing players too many minutes can really hurt their effectiveness on the court. Back to back NBA games lead to a weak product that is less enjoyable for fans to watch.

I'd love to see the NBA get rid of some of these games and eliminate tanking. That draft wheel idea sounded crazy at first but now that I've thought about it more I think it would make for a much better product.

I wonder if the NBA went towards a zero sum system if that would work better. In gaming I've been in groups that utilized a zero sum system to figure out who would get what kinds of cool things dropped in the game. Want that sweet sword? You bid against others for the item, or in this case the player, and then the winner's points end up going into the pool of teams. Smart teams would bid small amounts on players that others overlook. Stupid teams will over-bid on players, and won't have any points to bid when a truly special player comes along.

Just something else that I think would be interesting to consider.

Thats a great idea. Kind of like an auction fantasy football draft. Teams would have draft points. That would give the appropriate value to the #1 pick, in years where theres only an Anothony Bennet teams only bid a portion, in a year with superstar studs some teams might bid their entire bankroll. It makes the draft picks a system of skill and planning instead of dumb luck.

According to some here this guy is Black Jesus! He's had a rough past week or so......

Paul George has 6 points on 2 of 14 shooting. But the Pacers lead the Wizards by a score of 67-57 with 10 minutes left.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

The Nets have never looked more old. They look like they are in pain just running the court vs Miami - Joe Johnson especially. Up 14 in the 3rd, and it's a 2pt game with 2:44 to play, doesn't look too good for Brooklyn. And they have to play the 2nd of a back-to-back tomorrow vs Toronto.

it doesn't look ungood now

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

The Nets have a chance to break or tie Portlands Record of biggest shut out in an OT period (I think Portland outscored Houston once, 15 or 16 to 0)

Ya. lol Miama avoids becoming the 11th team in NBA history to not score a point in an overtime period with a bush league lay up with 20 sec left when Booklyn gave them quarter. Miami annoys me with their antics.

Oh, I forgot to respond about that All-Star thing with starters. You were right. I miss-understood you were talking about Kobe being replaced.

Love to the a Lakers (free-agency) is already making noise.

Ah, to be a Rube.

I don't get why the Lakers would want Kevin Love. He doesn't put them over the top, or get them closer.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Blake Griffin has 31 against the L*kers with 2:26 left in the third. If he had 0, the Clips would still be up by 7.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

After 3, Clips lead Lakers 101-60. In the 3rd quarter, Clips outscore them by 31-8.

The tears of Laker fans are so delicious.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

It's actually kind of hard to not troll the Lakers fans after they have a big time injury after what they would always do when we had injuries.

But, watching from afar is just as fun.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

It won't be so funny when Sterno gives the Lakers the 1, 2, or 3 draft pick

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

They're generally only awful one year a decade, we gotta get our kicks in when we can.

They want to be the next Knicks. A team of flawed superstars that only play on one end of the court.
