Who can we get who's just like Andre Iguodala, only about ten years younger? Cuz I want that guy. Apparently they're invaluable once you get somewhere in the playoffs.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, maybe? But Iggy has also been very durable. And Charlotte likes MKG, I'm sure.

Just thought I would pass this along....I was just listening to Mychal Thompson's radio show in LA just now.
The subject was free agency and they were going down the list. Mychal who obviously watches the Warriors much closer than any of us, had a surprising take on Harrison Barnes. Thinks with another team he would easily average 18 points a game. He said besides being very athletic, (Which we knew) he was also very smart and very hard working. He said the Warriors will match, but thinks that some team.......would be wise to go after him.
I call bullshit on that one. He gets fabulously open looks playing for the Warriors and he hasn't demonstrated a versatile skillSet since high school. His stats are pretty anemic. He's also pretty comparable to the MUCH CHEAPER Aminu. Here's Barnes's past season, his 4th, when he was 23, compared with Aminu's 4th season when he was 23 (and NOBODY was raving about him).

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. No one usually raves about a SF who shot 27% from deep that year.

I still don't see why all you guys are all slotting Aminu for SF. Not sure Barnes is the answer but we really need our wings to have better handles, and Aminu's dribbling skills are average at best for a SF, but above average for a PF.

Did he not play much better at PF ? His standing reach is over 9'. He gives us much more versatility at PF where he can cover a wide range of 4's better than say a max player like Horford. Who I like but who can't guard the perimeter like Aminu can. Which as we know is becoming more important.

Agree. I think Aminu would do well as our stretch 4 next season.

Here's a link to an article from the Columbian:
Aminu making mark for Blazers
Starting at ‘3’ spot, he has been best ‘4’ for Portland lately

A source has confirmed that the Sixers have had multi-player trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks. Yahoo Sports reported that the teams are discussing a deal centered around packages that include the Sixers center Nerlens Noel and Hawks point guard Jeff Teague. Sixers shooting guard Nik Stauskas and/or small forward Robert Covington could be included in the deal, according to a source.

Noel and Covington +.......

That is a little interesting.

Just spit balling here, but both Aminu and Harkless saw their 3pt avg increase by almost 100 points from the previous seasons. Weather that's just pure confidence from their coach or style and scheme, or whatever, might not we expect similar results with Covington? His defensive rating was better than his teams defensive rating, if that means anything? It's kinda nice to have a bunch of 6'7"-6'9" guys that can all play in today's NBA. I don't know much about his defense, but if he has quick enough feet, he may be worth a shot?

I'm a little leery of guys who put up good numbers on a 10-win team. But, as I said, he's on a REALLY cheap contract by today's standards. I think the only reason PHI is looking to move him is he's older than their ridiculously young core. If we have to renounce one, or more, of our free agents to clear cap space for a needle mover like Horford, I could see letting someone like Harkless or Leonard walk and picking up Covington on the cheap. I like our young guys, but I like Horford (and a few more FAs) better.

BNM

Thrive or not at best if he's "slightly" better than Aminu IMO an upgrade at C is more important, especially if we're spending the type of money a Barnes Max would command
I agree completely. If the playoffs taught us one thing it should be that starting center is priority one.

And I only put HFB slightly ahead of Aminu because I really don't have a feel for the disparity in their defense. On offense, it's no contest HFB has better overall offensive skills if given the same touches as Aminu.

My question is how much better is Aminu on defense, if at all?

Interesting that they make a point of saying that CJ is much more valuable than someone like Nerlens Noel due to the "positional and skill scarcity" of CJ as contrasted with defensive centers.
Something I've been harping on. Having at least 1 guy on the floor who can dribble, pass, and shoot from the lead guard position for 48 minutes is invaluable. CJ should be pretty damn untouchable unless its for a top tier creator from the perimeter.

This is great discussion btw. They go in deep on our assets and talk about possible ideas that are realistic. Much recommended.

Their software sucks... I paused for a minute, came back, and then once I tried to restart it the show stopped and wanted to start from the beginning. I'm not going to listen to the whole thing again. It wouldn't let me skip ahead either. I tried refreshing and skipping forward. Junk software.

I hope they are looking at Coty Clarke. I think he would be a cheap replacement for Crabbe. I also think there is a good chance Coty becomes the better player.

Coty becomes the better player? Cmon now.

Never heard of either of those guys..
One is a 6'3" PG and the other a SF, both have played internationally. they would be free agent signings, not draftees. Maybe just looking for guys to fill out the summer team. Or if they made two massive free agent signings, to try to fill out the team after trading and renouncing to clear space?

It's not as crazy as you make it sound.

Per Draftexpress, they are almost identical in size and age. Coty has more weight and is stronger:
Coty Clarke -> HT 6' 6" WT 239 Wing 7' 1" Standing 8' 8.5" Max Vert 31.5 Age 23 (born '92)
Crabbe -> HT 6' 6.25" WT 197 Wing 6' 11.25" Standing 8' 7.5" Max Vert 36.0 Age 24 (born '92)

And Coty has much better stats at comparable skill levels:

Then here is
Allen's

So based on the stats, Coty is a better 3pt shooter, better rebounded, averages more steals, generally has a higher TS%, and has a higher WS/40. They are about the same in Assists, blocks, and TOs. A lot of times the difference between players is just getting the right opportunity.

You can download an mp3 of the podcast.

A lot of 2nd round picks may have comparable college stats to Crabbe. Doesn't mean theyll be like Crabbe

Neil actually tried to sign Buycks a few summers ago but he choose the Raptors over the Blazers.

Interesting quote; I know a lot of people on here have been assuming there will be a lot of money thrown around. But he is right; there will be a better free agent class coming up. And, unlike the Blazers, a lot of teams will still have cap space next year.
Mark Cuban: "Every player thinks it's just going to be a money train this summer. There's a lot of money; there's not THAT much money. ... And I think there's going to be teams that save their money for next year, because it's a better free agent class. People just presume now that everybody's going to get paid a lot of money, and it'll be interesting to see if that happens."

Good. Maybe that means we get dwight while keeping harkless, crabbe, and leonard then.
