That's a not going to simply dump dump both of those guys for players they won't keep and a 2md round pick. A team like CHI or ATL would at least offer a better 2nd round pick and expirings.View attachment 18511
Supposedly the lakers wanna clear cap for 2019 now, this does that and gives them a cheap backup sf/pf for next season before they want maximum space. Maybe a second round pick goes to them too.
I don’t think that was a goal. It just came with dumping part of Crabbes contract.
Throw in our first then, I bet they make whoever wants Randle(who they will lose for nothing at the end of the year) take Clarkson’s 3/34 mil contract with him. That's a not going to simply dump dump both of those guys for players they won't keep and a 2md round pick. It's not quite that simple. We're over the tax line at the moment. Let's say that we did get a chance to trade for, say, Clarkson (11.6M contract). Per the CBA, the trade would work if all we did was trade Clarkson for 11.6M of our TPE (leaving us a tiny bit left). Why not? Is Neil seriously going to let 12-13 million dollars just expire and not do anything with it? That would be incredibly stupid. What was the point of getting the trade exception in the first place?
It's idiotic to think there was even a chance that he'd use the Crabbe TPE. It was never going to happenAh, I still think he's an idiot if he doesn't use it.
I mean, if you're talking about the Ricky Bobby Memorial binary "Win Championship/Suck at Life" result tree, then sure.
If not, then I disagree. We retooled twice and have made the second round twice in 5 years. Which is as much as we did from 1993-2012. Heck, we've made the playoffs 4 straight years when we made in 3 total of the previous 10.
Since 2012: Same Coach. Same GM. Same Owner. Same Stadium. Similar shitty TV contracts. Same poor valuation of draft capital.
Different alpha player. Different "Robin". Different offensive philosophies. Different defensive philosophies. Different philosophies on FA spending.
Still 2 2nd-rounds in 4 years.
0.77%. I won't say that any trade is ever 0% (unless it can't be done per CBA) but it would absolutely shock me. That would mean that one of these things (or more) had to happen:what % chance do you think there is that DeAndre is a Blazer tomorrow
0%what % chance do you think there is that DeAndre is a Blazer tomorrow
Clarkson isn't a bad contract, there's teams that'll want him.Throw in our first then, I bet they make whoever wants Randle(who they will lose for nothing at the end of the year) take Clarkson’s 3/34 mil contract with him.
We will see, I think both those lakers are getting dealt, and I don’t think their getting more than expirings and a first back(which my trade offers)Maybe someone with a higher 1st will make an offer but we could have the 12-20 pick depending on how the final couple months go. It’s a buyers market.Clarkson isn't a bad contract, there's teams that'll want him.
And them not wanting to resign doesn't mean anything because he has a lift a value across the league. There will be a bidding war.
I'll give it a solid 5% chance. I 100% want him to be on the roster but I don't think we have the pieces with CJ off limits.what % chance do you think there is that DeAndre is a Blazer tomorrow

I guess I am an idiot then. Should I go and fuck myself too? How about stick my head up ass? You know, go for the trifecta?
How about this: different players, different everything, same results.

Going into 2012-2013 they got a new coach and GM after being well below .500 and drafted Damian. That seems like shaking things up.
They get over 50 wins for a couple seasons. Then after the 2014/2015 season their best player strings them along in Free agency and ultimately leaves. So the team goes in a different direction and by the end of the summer four of the five starters are gone. That also seems like shaking things up.
Then all the shit that happened in the summer of 2016.
I fail to understand how anyone can say the team hasn’t been shaken up in the last 6 years…

Here's the difference, though. Right now we're about 3M over. We pay $1.50 in tax penalty for every dollar 0-5M over the cap. So our current amount, 3M, is planned on paying 4.5M in luxury tax. If we trade for Clarkson, that goes up.
We add the first 2M of Clarkson's contract at the $1.50 per dollar level. That adds another $3M to the tax penalty.
Then you pay $1.75 for every dollar between 5 and 10M. That's another 8.75M in tax penalty.
Then you pay $2.50 for every dollar between 10 and 15. Since there's about 4.6M unaccounted for, that's 11.5M.
So if you trade the TPE for Clarkson, we'll pay the prorated portion of his salary for the season (around 4M or so), but pay an extra 23.25M in tax penalties (bringing the total to 27.75M). Is Jordan Crawford worth 31M to PA for the next 25 games or so? And that's not even talking about next year, or one year closer to "repeater".
C'mon Props this is completely wrong and unfair.
No problem. As a fan I don't care about the tax penalty and just want to acquire talent when the opportunity presents itself and Clarkson is no doubt talent that would raise this team's playoff seeding. That may be the problem though as I am thinking with my fan brain when I shouldn't be.
I appreciate you taking the time to present this side to me.
You had us getting them both and giving them back a 2md round pick though. Discussing who will offer a 1st is a more realistic discussion, as Randle should fetch a 1st by himself. We will see, I think both those lakers are getting dealt, and I don’t think their getting more than expirings and a first back(which my trade offers)Maybe someone with a higher 1st will make an offer but we could have the 12-20 pick depending on how the final couple months go. We should of outbid minny for butler. I think I like him better than PG.
He’s going off on Cavs
