Why? Payton is better than Napier.
Disagree. I believe EP is the same player MCW is.

Not "give" - we had to PAY to have Noah's contract hauled away. We PAID to get rid of Crabbe, and we PAID to get rid of Noah. Noah, who we traded Nic for. Nic who, had we kept him, would have kept us from making the biggest mistake of them all - signing Turner.but we had to give away Noah's 3.5 mil contract just to get under the tax.
Let that sink in.
Payton is shooting over 50% and 37% from outside. Is it a fluke? Maybe, but he’s been consistent every month.
Lol he's not at all.
Orlando are so bad at making trades. Second round pick lol.

The whole trade deadline for us was just to save paul allen money. Dumb.
You do realize the cost of shedding contracts in this NBA climate right now is picks...you guys are complaining about one of the richest owners in SPORTS using his cash to get out of bad contracts. Not "give" - we had to PAY to have Noah's contract hauled away. actually getting under the luxury tax does much more than just saving the team money. Educate yourself on how the NBA works. The whole trade deadline for us was just to save paul allen money. Dumb.
Trade machine? There will always be the wanna be GM's regardless if a trade machine is available or not.I knew we would do nothing, I blame espn for inventing the trade machine and turning everyone into a backseat gm.

Nobody cares about the cash. What's worse is we had to give up cash just to get rid of Vonleh. Lmao.
Aside from the tax itself and the eventual repeater penalties, the other effects of the tax come from being above the apron, not the tax line itself. Since the Blazers were only 2.8M over the tax line, they were well under the apron, so dealing Vonleh to get under the tax line didn't in fact do anything for the Blazers except save them money.actually getting under the luxury tax does much more than just saving the team money. Okay. After being luke warm on Olshey, I'm now firmly in the FIRE OLSHEY camp.
You guys would like me beret than Olshey as the GM, just saying.
You talking about now or in July?So we will have the non tax MLE to offer? Don’t have to clear any more salary?
Save money to get better? Maybe?Jesus H C. Vonleh for a stash? Are we trying to save money or get better????
You talking about now or in July?
Right now, they could offer as much as 6.5M, which is less than the 8.4M non-tax MLE, but more than than the 5.2M taxpayer MLE.
In July, if they want to keep Nurkic, they'll need to not offer any more than the taxpayer MLE, because use of more than that would cap them out at the apron (projected to be around $129M). The 9 salaries on the books for next year, plus the dead money, plus the charge for their first round pick, plus whatever non-tax MLE is given to whomever, would leave less than $10M to resign Nurkic, and that won't be enough.
Ok so pretty much if they wanted to use the full MLE and keep their FAs, they'd still have to shed some salary before free agency, correct? And how much would they have to clear? I'm an idiot.
Once you use the non-taxpayer MLE, you're hard capped at the apron (~$129M). So how much the Blazers need to shed depends on how much you think they'll need to retain Nurkic (and any other free agents you'd want to keep, like Napier or whomever).
Would Layman’s contract affect any of this? I don’t believe it’s guaranteed.
You're correct--but it would only open up about $1M in space which really wouldn't make a ton of difference if we lose our ability to match all RFA's, which would be the biggest drawback in our current situation to using the non-tax MLE.Would Layman’s contract affect any of this?
