we have been listening and witnessing the last 4 years.
America got tired of the non common sense approach that this admin was making in its decision.
I know 90% of this board disagrees with me on that statement, but clearly going by the results of this election (landslide EC and winning PV) the majority of people in the US agree with me.
And no I will not provide a link for every non common sense approach the Biden/Harris admin has made, which some of you will request.
I'm not asking for a link because I can show you how your idea is deeply flawed without it.
Four years ago, we were in the midst of a global pandemic. Half a million Americans already had died. Millions more had been infected. Businesses had closed. Other businesses were struggling because of mitigation efforts. The supply chain was a disaster.
The U.S. economy was at its worst since the Great Depression, and was fairly worse than any country like us in the world.
We had a leader who'd already done a lot of questionable things after inheriting a great economy from his predecessor, a president, who, BTW, the new president had constantly pushed unfounded rumors about his birthright.
That current president created all kinds of division during 2020, first telling Americans COVID wasn't a big deal that would be gone in a matter of days, to sending mixed messages about whether masking was good or bad, to openly disagreeing with his own immunologist to telling people that maybe ingesting disinfectant or shooting UV light into themselves could be a cure.
Then he lost the election. He challenged the results, which was his right, but all his legal efforts -- more than 60 -- failed. Then he incited his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol to delay the transfer of power so he could figure out another way to keep it.
As a result, he was impeached in a bipartisan vote and was only a few votes from being removed from office by the Senate.
The president that took over for him almost immediately got a bipartisan infrastructure bill passed that his predecessor had promised and, like so many other things, proved ineffective and failed in doing.
After initial issues getting the economy back on its feet which led to some of the highest inflation figures in the last 50 years, the new president got things turned around. The U.S. economy caught up with similar nations as it recovered and then surpassed them. Some prices even started to recede.
Now we have some of our lowest inflation numbers ever. We recouped the jobs we lost during the previous president's term and added in record numbers. The stock market reached new highs. And salary figures surpassed those of inflation.
When Russia attacked Ukraine, our aid helped the smaller nation not only stop the aggressor hold out longer than the few weeks that was originally expected, to the point that it continues to fight today and even took the fight across the Russian border.
Illegal immigration, a problem for decades, continued to be an issue. After his predecessor pressured his party not to pass a bi-partisan deal authored by one of the most conservative legislators in the country, an executive order was put into effect that dropped illegal entries to their lowest figures in years. BTW, the number of actual stops at the border were higher than ever, despite the problematic state of staffing there created during the previous term.
The new president also helped build on the immensely popular ACA by cutting a deal with pharmaceutical companies to cap prices for insulin for senior Americans. The previous president tried unsuccessfully to cut the entire ACA without any replacement, an action that would have left millions of Americans without healthcare.
Yeah, I don't need any links to show that what you think was common sense had a lot more to do with partisan bias and rhetoric. You are right, your view is common, and you are right that the majority of voters voted along with you. But sense? There's not a lot of sense in voting this guy back in, no. He failed the first time when he had ever reason to succeed.
Now he's got no guardrails, is implementing an economic plan that economists all over the world say will drive up U.S. inflation six times, and is replacing lifelong civil servants with party lackeys. If he fails, it will all be on him, his party, and people like you that were so caught up in slogans that they couldn't even realize or admit things were pretty good and trending even better.
We'll see how your "common sense" works out now with a lot of unprepared people working in the diplomatic corps all over the world, in things like FEMA, when the Department of Education is eliminated, yeah, I'm really anxious to see how that works out and if you'll still be around here if it goes sideways.
Have a good day.
