DA for near Max is not worth it, DA as a slightly over the MLE to be a 2nd in the rotation behind DC - probably is.

Just to give you a reference, DA this year averaged 14/10, Isaiah Hatenstein averaged 11/10 and costs $30m per year.

DA for his current salary is not worth it. DA for $20m a year with a guy he likes to play with for $20m/ y and 20-24 mpg - is the going rate for a center that has good mobility and can be a lob threat / mid-range threat.
Hartenstein has defense and passing that DA can't dream of.

DA is basically KAT without a jump shot, inside game, or passing. That's just not a useful NBA player.

I wouldn't want him in my favorite teams center rotation at any price.

Blazers were legit MUCH better every minute he did not play this last season. That's with Jabari Walker and a raw stiff rookie filling his shoes at center.

Let some other team talk themselves into trying the DA experiment at center. Hopefully via trade! If not then with him walking next summer.

Also a big problem with Ayton Grant Ant here is they will always view the Blazers as "their" team first where they were the starters and the franchises big 3.

They might be willing to accept a bench role in a new city, but they won't here. They view all of Scoot Sharpe Camara Deni Clingan as the kids that came after them, that their teaching, and that they have seniority over.

Billups obviously agrees with them starting 100% of their games regardless how effective (ineffective) they are.

Ideally we get these guys off the roster ASAP. Now with Grant contract that might not be easy. But the other two it should be done at worst within the next year one way or another. HOPEFULLY

And that's why I suggested 66% of the price for him.

You are entitled to this opinion, mine is that for the right price, he is a good backup in a rotation that has a young big with different skills to his.

The Blazers were 19-23 without DA (0.45) and and 17-25 with him 0.4 - and most of the time that he missed was after Deni's early season slump / getting used to Portland period, when they did play together - they seemed like an excellent combination with DA seemingly rejuvenated when Deni was his defacto PG - so, your claim (MUCH better) is simply not true and lacks context.

Again, DA as a #1 pick that is worth a max contract - no, DA as a backup center that makes a bit more than the MLE and fills a needed skill set - yes.

Okay.... so...... need an updated offseason!

Cut Vincent.

Third piece would have to be completed in two parts because Jrue can't be aggregated

upload_2025-6-28_21-10-17.png

Final roster:

Scoot/FVV
Shae/Thybulle/Rupert
Toumani/Knecht/Murray
Deni/JSS/Harris/Vanderbilt/Kleber
Clingan/Adams/Yang

I would be looking to find homes for Harris/Kleber/Vanderbilt/etc.

Or we don't do the Rockets trade and we go into the season with

Scoot/Jrue
Shae/Thybulle/Rupert
Toumani/Knecht/Murray
Deni/Harris/Vanderbilt/Kleber
Clingan/Rob/Yang

Wow! I'm not even going to do an updated one. Just make the moves you proposed happen to get us this depth chart that you posted above and I'll be so excited for next season.

I really hope all of the "we're keeping Jrue" shit is just spin to increase his value because who wants a guy who doesn't want to be here. I hope all of this has been part of our front office's plan to go young and they're obviously not about to tell everyone their whole plan before the have it all locked down. I don't think Jrue is coming off the bench if he's here so I like the bolded depth chart so much more.

I don't pray but if I did it would be for that depth chart right there. Hey, here's an idea, why don't we try to make the playoffs with a deep roster like the one you're proposing and do it with our young players leading the way???

Great post.

Jrue trade isn't official so deal can be aggregated.

FVV and Adams can't be traded since they are signing new contracts.

This can't happen and even if it could, I can't see any way the Rockets give up all that just to get Jrue. Just not worth it for them. They give up way too much.

Okay....... this post lasted one day.

At this point I think our only chance at a move is Grant.

upload_2025-6-29_23-36-45.png

Lakers sign Ayton and get Grant.

Jrue/Scoot/Vincent
Shae/Thybulle/Rupert/Cissoko
Tou/Knecht/Murray
Deni/Rui
Clingan/Yang/Rob

Today's agenda

1. Trade Grant
2. Extend Camara for 4/90, Sharpe for 5/120
3. Sign best available FA @ MLE

Yeah I'd do that deal. I kind of think we'd just take Rui without Knecht so not sure the Lakers need to add him.

If we take Vanderbilt 3 years of deadweight contract Knecht makes more sense for being the one piece of positive value.

Thing I'm not sure is if Cronin wants a defensive liability like Knecht? Every acquisition has been good defensively lately. I might try to route Knecht to the Bulls for our pick or to some other team for a swap or such.

Although in theory have ONE offensive specialist on the roster might end up fine. Billups won't have to give him minutes like Ayton/Ant/Grant so it doesn't really set a bad example for the rest of the squad. We really might need some shooting.
