Huh--dunno why I thought he was German.

Could also see someone try to shoehorn Franz into that spot, but yeah, Schröder's speed and ball-handling would be valuable.
Forgot Markkanen! He's definitely a contender, although hard to shoehorn him into that starting lineup.

79 days!!!

Trail Blazers Preseason schedule:
Oct 11th @ Clippers - Seattle, Climate Pledge Arena
Oct 13th @ Kings
Oct 16th vs Ratiopharm Ulm (German NBBL)
Oct 18th vs Jazz
Heard from somebody over here in France that The JAZZ game might be broadcast, but what do I know right?

? They were the best US players in the NBA at the time (plus Christian Laettner). How is that different from this year's edition, other than the gauzy glow of nostalgia? Oh yeah, the world caught up, that's how.

Just when I thought maybe your questionable takes are serious...

The Dream Team represented a significant portion of the best-ever players at each position, most of them still playing at peak levels. This year's team is lead by guys like LeBron/Durant/Curry who are well into the downside of their career (like Bird and Mullin, who weren't asked to do much). Aside from Embiid/Davis matching up well against Ewing and co. inside, the rest of the current team is made up of guys with little chance of making the Dream Team cut.

a meeting with the HCP possible in Paris you think? Arriving tomorrow for the whole Olympics.
I don’t normally meet up with fans for autograph appearances, but maybe we can set something up if my work schedule is open. We get to Paris Aug 4th evening to finish out the games. I’m working like 10-12 hours each day, but hey that would be cool.

it's true that Portland paid a pretty steep price for Avdija. Two first's, both of which could be lottery picks, 5 years apart; a couple of 2nd's + Brogdon. So yeah, the Wizards sold Avdija for a solid haul....maybe a great haul depending on 2029

but the author of that article was a little too dismissive of Portland's POV. To start with, in a short article he said the Wizards "fleeced" Portland 4 different times. He needed to find another label and vary the verb. So he gets a couple of demerits for lack of imagination

Also, yeah, there were a couple of 2nd round picks but those are pretty minor assets easy to replace.

he's also trying to count Saddiq Bey as part of the trade and that's just fucking idiotic. He's claiming the trade made the space necessary to sign Bey, apparently. But Brogdon's salary is 6.4M more than Avdija's so the Wizards would have had the space anyway

finally, he's trying to count whatever assets the Wizards might get for Brogdon as part of the haul and people around here can recognize how hollow that kind of asset can be. I mean, we were hoping that Brogdon might fetch back a late first. But the Blazers had to add two first's to Brogdon in order to extract any value
So Wizards got a "haul" for Deni but the Dame return isn't a "haul"?

What's hysterical about that is the 2029 pick was crapped on as being so far away when we got it for Dame, now it's "potential lottery". Have seen it before on different returns, to it his agenda. It's a joke to just lean negative on the Blazers for no reason.

I don't understand how our olympic team, full of all-stars barely beat some of these other teams, which only have a few average nba players.

Lack of urgency. If you've watched the games the effort from this squad really ebbs and ebbs and ebbs until it has to flow and then it does. One would think that would change when the games count but I guess we'll see.

There was once a time USA would smash any opponent playing all star game intensity

You think that if Team USA "decided to go hard" they'd be beating these other teams by 50 like the Dream Team used to? Yeah, and if the US had really wanted to, they would have won in Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc.

The Dream Team was a generational collection of talent, so any other dominant showing would be a fractional representation of what they were able to do at their best.

The Dream Team lost a tuneup to an NCAA all-star team before the Olympics.

Ah, but that's already been ret-conned. Now people say that Chuck Daly intentionally threw the game to light a fire under his teams asses. It's never explained how he did that, given that he wasn't actually playing, but this is a real theory that I've seen people really espouse. For example:

https://www.thesportscol.com/2017/10/dream-team-vs-college-stars/

Well fuck, the fire under the Blazers' asses is going to be HUGE with all the intentional losing Billups has done.

yeah, Dame and Avdija are the same level as players, so there is plenty of equivalency in defining the return...get real

right now, the "haul" for Dame, after factoring Nurkic and Little is, approximately, Avdija, Timelord, and a 1st round pick in 2029; and a couple of swaps, one of which is encumbered. For Damian Lillard. Camara might be added to that if you're working hard to try and call it a great haul, but maybe not

that's a decent return of course if Avdija is all star talent. He may be...may not be

Warner Brother had nothing to do with the league pass.

Oh guess it was Microsoft wbd ran nba tv and was in a partnership with league pass i guess my bad

League Pass is operated by NBA Digital, a partnership between the league and TNT Sports that also includes ownership of NBA TV, the league’s cable network. This is why you see TNT personalities like Taylor Rooks and Jared Greenberg hosting NBA Digital content.
