I get it.... we might have to take a shitty haul for Dame if he asks out. Might not be much we can do about that. But there is zero reason to take shitty compensation for the #3.
I don't think we'll have to take a shitty haul for Dame. I think we can threaten preferred teams with the idea that we'll send him to the best place for us. I also think Brooklyn can put together a really good package for a team like we would be, in a youth rebuild. That's where I think he would end up and we would end up with a bunch of picks, maybe some young players and either Simmons or the expiring contracts of Dinwiddie and Harris.

I disagree. The #3 pick has very stoutly been loyal to Portland since the lottery and provided hours of entertainment to this board, I think we should honor it's wishes for where it wants to be traded to, it's the fair thing to do.

DO NOT go to the RealGM trades board

since the lottery there have been several dozen Portland trade ideas and they have either been some team stealing Dame from the Blazers or some team stealing #3. And a couple have actually had a team stealing BOTH Dame and 3

the latest doozy had Portland trading Ant + Nurkic +23rd pick + their 2024-2026-2028 picks, ALL UNPROTECTED, + 2030 first, top-4 protected....all that for Paul George. Ant, Nurkic, and 5 first round picks, 4 of which are essentially unprotected for a 33 year old wing who can't stay healthy

and get this, it was a 3 way trade with the Clippers getting LaVine + 23, while the Bulls got Simons, Nurk, and the 4 unprotected first's....for LaVine!!

The Blazers would have to exchange the pinwheel logo for a bend over emoji.

If Dame comes out and says he wants to go to Miami, I think we do it. Most of the fanbase isn't going to be happy that he's leaving, and I think we'll do whatever we can to accommodate him. It sucks. I would much rather send him to Brooklyn.

Short of LA and our division rivals, I honestly think Miami now might be the LAST team we'd trade Dame to.

Yeah.... but to be fair, they didn't really start to be annoying until Dame mentioned them. Laker fans, on the other hand, have been chasing Dame for yeaaaaaaaaaaaaars.

No question. My broader point was just that this thing isn't going to happen in a flash. Cronin isn't going to sell Dame for peanuts tomorrow night just because Silver doesn't announce that we've traded the pick.

Dame is smarter than that. He knows deals can be made after the draft. He knows FAs can be signed. He knows we can trade other assets than Scoot or Miller.

Even if worst comes to worst -- barring a godfather offer in between -- I don't see Dame being traded until probably the deadline

Report: Celtics Pursuing Kristaps Porzingis Trade
The Boston Celtics are reportedly pursuing an opt-in and trade with the Washington Wizards for the former Knicks star.

Sources: Wizards, Celtics and Clippers are in strong talks on a trade that would send Kristaps Porzingis to Boston, Marcus Morris and draft compensation to Washington and Malcolm Brogdon to Los Angeles. Sides are still working through details and Porzingis’ $36M player option.

It's agreed on.

I disagree. Dame can ask out, but we don't have to take garbage for him. We would be better if he (rather uncharacteristically) sat out and we ate his contract.

I like that quite a bit for Boston if it happens.

Not giving up a whole lot and only committed for a year to Kristaps if he runs into injury issues again.

Hopefully Joe steals some of Unseld's stuff that he ran with Porzingis and Beal screening for eachother. There is not as natural of a two-man game fit on Boston, but I think you can run a lot of the same pin down re-screen into a flare type stuff with the Jay's and Derrick White.

Just a really good scheme and personnel fit overall. Joe likes to run five out primarily on offense and drop on d with his bigs.

I just don't think that's going to be the case. I think we might tell Dame that we're not going to be forced to deal him to one place, but we would accept a list of teams that he wants and then try to work out a deal with one of those teams. I'm just saying that if Dame went to Joe and said "it's Miami." I get this feeling that Joe would do it. I think they respect Dame and we're right back in the Otis Thorpe scenario.

Or the Sharif Abdur Rahim and Theo Ratliff senario.
