They failed to extend him the year before
Yes, what Brunson said. Brunson would have extended on a good deal for the Mavs, but he hadn't broken out at that point. They didn't offer.
He said he certainly would have extended at that point.
Later, of course, everything was different.

Yeah but Brunson left them they didn't trade him, I'm pretty sure they wanted to keep him and he just wanted to get back to the east coast.

The Mavericks had multiple chances to get a four-year, $55.5 million contract extension done with Brunson. There wasn't much motivation to get something done after his disappointing series against the LA Clippers in last year's playoffs.

According to ESPN, the Mavericks didn't even engage in contract extension talks with Brunson before the season despite having a real outlook to get a deal done had they done so.

"Dallas could have signed Brunson to a four-year extension for as much as $55.5 million before the season, but the Mavs didn't offer it then, nor did they engage in negotiations with Brunson's representatives."

"I told him once the season is started, that's it," Rick Brunson told ESPN. "I told the Mavericks, 'Once the season is started, there's no contract talk,' and I went back against my word. In January, I thought he did enough where he deserved [the extension] in January. I said, 'Hey, take the money, man.' He wants security. He wants to live here. And they declined.

In a rebuild Duarte would make sense for the Blazers but not to find the team vet help for Dame cause I like the ex-Duck just not for a Dame led team.

Anyone who thinks Green was coming to the Blazers are fooling themselves BUT I will say if he was to leave the Warriors the Blazers with Dame would be one of the few options I think he would consider but right now still a pipe dream. Also remember they traded away the guy he punched in practice so that also indicated they valued Green over that player.

Duarte is 26 already.

Kings have cap-space, even after re-signing Barnes. I think the new CBA has made cap-space and TPE's more vaulable. I hope Portland finds a good use of their TPE. But who am I kidding....the Vulcans are watching those pennies
Eh, 8 million TPE isn’t that great. Not many difference makers who fit into that price range.

Looks like ESPN is salary dumping today. They let go of Jeff Van Grundy and Jalen Rose with more names to come. They’re trying to avoid that 2nd apron as well.
Jalen going is crazy. I think he's so good. He's funny and has so many stories. The dude understands the game and is entertaining. That being said, I would be really surprised if he isn't picked up by The Ringer immediately. Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose love each other.

Been a lot of talk about how ESPN and other sports networks are losing money. Would seem they're cutting back on media personalities to save some cash.

Its hard for me to align this with all the projections of the NBA TV contract going massively up. You would think if that were the case ESPN would be hiring analysts not laying them off.

Only logical explanation I can think of is maybe ABC/ESPN are preparing for a competitor to win the bulk of the next NBA TV contract? Maybe we will see NBA games streaming on Netflix or something.

Harris was a contract sometimes mentioned in possible Dame trades. Obviously with Simmons alone they still have plenty of other options though.

Trade exception doesn't seem like it could impact us unless its for Nurk or a 3way deal.
