I can't even imagine Bane's agent asking for MAX with a straight face. I bet MEM made the first (and last) offer.

Just read this and had to laugh.

I'm starting to think the 50/50 owner-player split of revenue in recent CBAs got it a bit wrong... When Desmond Bane is making 10x as much a year as Jordan did the bulk of his career, things don't quite add up. Instead of these massive salary jumps with each new CBA, making last year's max contract stars look like role players, they should have found a way to spread a good chunk of that 50% across retired players. They're the ones who actually earned the league its future money, after all. I don't see why the current guys with lucky timing should get all the benefit, and in such a grotesque way.

always liked him. Seems like a grade A bloke.

WTF is this spending spree about? 52 x 5 for Lamelo? Good player but damn.

It happens every free agent period. Too much money chasing too few players or teams get desperate. You can really see the undisciplined franchises during this period.
