No implications just a question. Did they miss a good one? Scoot can still be good. My question is more about losing Dame as well as not making that choice.you implied that not drafting ausar was a miss—or that drafting scoot was a miss...
(full disclosure—I was team thompson twins throughout the draft process but it's crazy early to litigate scoot's nba success in the league like that, lol)
Dude blew his ACL in one leg and then right when he was done rehabbing that blew his achilles in the other. He was 29 when he sustained the first injury and 31 when he played his next game. I don't think most ball players come back from something like that. I realize that KD came back from his achilles but he wasn't coming off of an ACL. I also realize he played a season and a half since then and was an important part of a title team but he wasn't moving like he once did, so it's not a shock that his movement has continued to degrade.Klay Thompson is COOKED. He shot 1-10 tonight. Are the Warriors just gonna let him walk?
I thought his game would age gracefully since he didn’t rely on athleticism and knew how to move without the ball. But he can’t create any separation to get off shots anymore.

Literally off-the-charts bad offense:
I might be wrong on this but something tells me the defensive numbers being as good as they are, is at least partially because the offense is just so very bad. Teams don't have to score much more than 100 points to beat the Blazers. How many times have we missed being able to buy our free McNuggets.and top 10 defense (9th, actually, ahead of the Heat)

What happens when dame Lillard leaves a team built around him, on both sides of the balland top 10 defense (9th, actually, ahead of the Heat)
To be clear, you're saying that if our offense was better, that opposing teams' offense would also be better? What exactly are you suggesting here--that teams aren't trying as hard on offense against us because they don't have to?I might be wrong on this but something tells me the defensive numbers being as good as they are, is at least partially because the offense is just so very bad. I don't think we will get 20 wins this season. Just looking at the schedule and predicting that we offload at least Jerami but probably both Jerami and Malcolm at the trade deadline either for prospects that aren't as "win now", picks or both.Portland is better on defense this year, but I think their defensive rating is in large part a function of playing a schedule than has been 'loaded' with shitty offensive teams.
speaking of ratings and looking ahead to the lottery and draft:
one of the best predictors of wins and losses is net rating (of course it might be a chicken/egg thing). Portlan's current net rating is -6.9. Last season, a -6.9 net rating equaled around 24-25 wins and a 4th seed in the lottery. The year before, about 24 wins and 5th seed in the lottery. Silver linings I guess
Combination of a number of things. First teams are sitting starters against the blazers. I’m wondering if both LeBron and Davis play tonight. Then they rarely have even been in the game in the fourth after the 8 minute mark. Next the Blazers are bad. Really really bad. Teams are playing down to their level. To be clear, you're saying that if our offense was better, that opposing teams' offense would also be better? What exactly are you suggesting here--that teams aren't trying as hard on offense against us because they don't have to?
Maybe Portland has better defense than Det and Wash? Of course that ain’t saying much but it certainly is plausible? Then all terrible teams should have "good" defense. For one reason or another POR ranks ahead of DET and WAS
There is at least some truth to what you are saying. It's hard to know exactly how much. However, it is certainly a pessimistic pov, and I'm trying to stay positive, as much as I realistically can.I might be wrong on this but something tells me the defensive numbers being as good as they are, is at least partially because the offense is just so very bad. Last year he was simply missing shots. He was getting good looks. He was terrible out of the gates last year, too.
I'll take it.Maybe Portland has better defense than Det and Wash? Of course that ain’t saying much but it certainly is plausible?
