Those definitions cant vary that much.

MVP caliber players= Top five candidates of the year.
All Star= Any player to have been selected for an all star team that year.
Star= A player considered for an all star spot but didn't make it. Id put this list at another 20-30 players behind the All Stars.
Then you have role players. The majority of the nba.
