Not a horrible trade But also not a trade and makes a whole Lotta sense either. That’s what you call making a trade just for the sake of making a trade.

Clippers saved a lot of tax monies :dunno: Memphis is open minded about assets and trades.

The league is playing hot potato with Bledsoe's contract, I love it! This is his 4th team in less than a year.

How about a follow-up trade:

DJJ + Cash -> Rondo

This would cut ~$1.5M off Blazer's payroll - which would allow Blazers to duck under the tax by ~$1.0M (based on info here: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/cap/)

It would be nice to FINALLY get a real backup PG.... although Portland would be tinny with a HUGE gaping hole at PF.

if we are under tax then I think that unlocks the bigger MLE which would mean we can maybe attract some better player. If there is anyone available at least.

And LeBron is the only NBA-caliber player remaining from the 2003 draft class.
Then our Blazers have nothing to worry about vs the Lakers right? Plus they added a washed up stat chasing scrub like Westbrook who makes his teammates worse. We'll be just fine against them. #RipCity

I hope you're ready for a slow start for the Lakers. Westbrook has turned it around after a while at his last two stops but not until after looking pretty fugly. And you've got to think there are going to be some young teams that just run those Boomers off the court.

We'll have no fears once we convince Artest to come out of retirement.

They retained the services of James and Davis, though. As a supposed "hardcore Lakers fan," I'd think you'd know that. You sound like a fake Lakers fan.

I mean, you're right, they're worse than last year--but they started out well ahead of Portland when healthy. Barring significant injuries to James or Davis, I don't think Portland fully closed the gap on them just by sending them Melo.

I'm not saying they'll start fast or win 70 games, its just funny to me how hate around here, just blinds the common sense.

Everything hangs on whether Davis can be bothered to get in shape this year, cuz last year he sure as shit couldn't.

This whole post confuses me. You're saying they won't have a good season?

So, why don't you put your common sense where your mouth (err, typing) is--do you think the 2021-22 Lakers team will be better or worse than then 2019-20 Lakers that won a title? I mean, they added SUPERSTAR Russell Westbrook and HALL OF FAMER Carmelo Anthony, so "common sense" says they should be much, much better, right?

LeBron James has dragged worse teams to the finals, but he was a lot younger. The Lakers are getting overhyped by casual fans who say "hey, a teamfull of names I recognize!" and underhyped by ageists. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Westbrook isn't as bad as his reputation tends to be now, but the Lakers are not built for the three point age right now. And they fucking better get great at load management for all those old creaky joints.

Impossible to predict right now. SO much turnover. Chemistry will take awhile to come together for sure. It just cracks me up that people think they will be worse having Westbrook as their PG instead of Schruder.

Oh ya, and I forgot how OLD LeBron is getting and how much his numbers will go down this season right?

We HATE Melo so much......there is NO way he can play 25 minutes and give them some valuable scoring and get to the FT line down the stretch of a close game as a 4th option. Because we hate the Lakers SO much, there's NO way he gets the calls from the refs huh?

And if they make the WCF or Finals and lose people will be like "SEE, I told you they are terrible and suck!".

Meanwhile we will be bounced in the first round.

Lebron and Westbrook aren’t as effective if they aren’t dominating the ball. Davis is injured yearly. Lebron will eventually start slowing down. Their supporting cast has gotten worse. They’ll be a top 3 team. But I don’t think they’ll dominate the league.

Westbrook is a great talent. But his stats aren’t as indicative of his outcome on games as they should.
