Dame's long time trainer, if we wanna stir the pot some more...
I don't think this would stop Beckner from his normal personal training gigs. I imagine he could likely make more doing that than as an assistant to assistants.I'm not trying to be a doomsdayist but I think this means that Olshey has already agreed to trade Dame. I just don't see Beckner abandoning Dame after all of these years. It just doesn't add up. I hope I'm wrong. I wouldn't ever trade Dame to Philly after the hard ball that they've been playing either but I'm not Neil fucking Olshey. Dame put the screws to Olshey so maybe Neil wants to wash his hands of someone who would hold him accountable.
Fuck, this is just tripping me out.
Right, maybe this will be his regular season gig and Dame will be his off season gig but usually teams expect their assistant coaches to be available to them year round. Hopefully it's nothing but how many fucking times have you heard Dame talk about Phil and how important to Dame's success he is?I don't think this would stop Beckner from his normal personal training gigs. I imagine he could likely make more doing that than as an assistant to assistants.
Do you think that Beckner would be a party to a team trying to manipulate Dame like that? Do you think that Dame didn't know this was happening? Not really. They are trying to create the ideal situation for Dame so he will ask to be traded there
Westbrook had a lower usage rate than Beal last year. He also had a lower usage rate than Dame. Westbrook had an assist rate of 48.6%; Dame's rate was 34.6%
for sure, when you compare the scoring efficiency of Dame and Westbrook, Dame's usage is justified and Westbrook's isn't. Westbrook has flaws but sharing the ball isn't one of them
the Lakers will be skating on real thin ice next season because they will depend of Westbrook finding that sweet spot of knowing when to look for his best kind of offense and when to facilitate. His history suggests that will be a real challenge. However, If Lebron, AD, and Westbrook do mange a good mesh, the lakers will be really good

I just think it's either Phil and Dame talked and it was too good of an opportunity for Phil to pass up, so they are parting ways with Dame's blessing or Neil has already agreed to the trade and the Sixers did this to make their new superstar happy.
I get that, but what about cause and effect?
Yeah... I think about all of the packages that the Sixers could send and none of them make sense for us... unless Neil is blowing this shit up as we speak. That doesn't make any sense with the Norm signing though.I hope its the former. If it's the Latter Blazers are fucked

It's either that Beckner got a great offer and Dame would never stand in the way of a friend's success, especially one who he credits for so much of his own or Neil is making a bad move. Shit this has me more twisted up than any of the other off season shit that's gone down so far.
If he doesn't have any intel he'll be fucking stupid to say anything because just as nicely as Dame saved his ass... Dame could turn around and burn his shit down.Abbot is going to have a fucking field day

Embiid is a knee click away from "Game Over" man. Philly ain't all that. They aren't better than the Blazers.Beckner works as a consultant to a number of players (Dame included) and college teams. I'm not sure that you can read too much into this. It doesn't say that he's being hired as an assistant coach. But, let's say that you're right and that it's a precursor to trading Dame to the Sixers for Simmons and other assets to be named later. Is a starting lineup of Nurk, Simmons, RoCo, Norm & CJ really doomsday? Not a horrible doomsday IMO. If Dame has it in his head that he wants to move on to another team for a chance at a title, the Blazers could do worse than acquiring Simmons as a younger centerpiece going forward.

You're right on all accounts but I want Dame here. So that's all it comes down to for me. Dame is just the highest character star in the league and he's been our guy for a while now. I wanted him to outlast CJ whenever someone finally figured out how bad of a fit they are. I also for sure wanted him to outlast Neil... he's such a snake. I had it wrong about Beckner being an assistant coach but it's still really unsettling to see Dame's guy is going to be getting paid by them... but it doesn't mean anything is for sure.Beckner works as a consultant to a number of players (Dame included) and college teams. Yes. Dame is the best player this team has seen. Losing him removes any of the minute chance the Blazers have at winning a championship.

I think CJ, Norm, RoCo and Simmons fit well together... especially if Simmons can take the next step in his game, maybe being the number one guy on the team is what he needs. Nurk has said he doesn't want to be here if Dame isn't and he really isn't a great fit next to Simmons so maybe he gets moved for Boucher or someone like that.
Maybe, again, the Beckner shit doesn't mean anything and we're still going to roll into next season "running it back" or CJ will get moved for a star forward.
Like I posted this Beckner thing has me tripping... so I don't know what to think.
BRO, Bradley, make up your mind.

when did Durant play for the knicks?
that tweet reads poorly.
Phil Beckner taking his talents to Philly is an attention grabber, for sure.
Just for the sake of argument, let's say the CJ for Simmons rumors are onto something but missing the mark... If Simmons is the great pairing alongside Dame that many here think (I'm skeptical), and CJ is what Philly needs alongside Embiid, then a Dame for Embiid trade does the same thing. No way in hell is Olshey trading Dame for Simmons.
Dame instead of Embiid in Philly is more in line with classic Morey ball.
No Embiid in Philly also makes more sense with bringing Drummond in, given their history.
I'd be real nervous about Embiid's durability, being a big man in Portland.
