Wrong size, nationality, skillset, playing style. Look harder.
I just looked harder, your right, Rudy was better. I’ll pass on the 29 year old 5’10 pg. Our backcourt is small enough as is. Plus the dude shoots 33% from 3. Just my opinion.

some of the stuff he's doing isn't going to work well in the NBA, IMO. I remember when Sabonis came to Portland, in his first season he was trying lots of bounce passes and behind the back passes, but NBA arms were too long and hands were too quick and Sabonis has tons of turnovers until he cut a lot of the fancy shit out of his toolbox

that said, a great ball-handler as a backup can usually be a plus and that guy looks like a great ball-handler. On the other hand, he's only 5'11 and his shooting stats are not good:

I'm not very impressed...yet

open to? Why does he have any say about his destination? He's still under contract for three years effectively.

If he wants to sit out, he'll be under breach of contract. I'm all for player empowerment, but this is just abuse of power.

Two years, this season and next then he can opt out.

Teams won't want to trade for him if he has no interest in resigning or would sit out.

If he wants to sit out and gives up his paycheck I'm not sure, maybe I'm fine with it. Vince Carter did that back in the day.

It's ridiculous. We are so lucky to have Dame, but at some point, Dame is going to retire, and most of this generation of players all seem to have this type of mindset, which sucks for the fans.

I feel like all this player empowerment leads to super teams and limits other teams significantly. I miss the days when players didn’t like each other as much.

Trade for him, you try it out for a season. If it seems like an awful fit, you turn around and move him in the offseason. He's still going to hold a ton of value as a top 10 player in the league, even on an expiring deal.

The NBA had players like Kobe demand trades as well, and the Lakers got close to doing it with Chicago but insisted on both Ben Gordon & Luol Deng which Chicago wouldn't do. So the Lakers said no, Kobe you are staying a Laker.

Houston can hold firm like that if they want.

Houston has other problems that they did a stupid Russ trade, got rid of Capella then RoCo, did another stupid Russ trade, traded away tons of picks to avoid tax, distanced themselves from their talented GM to grab China $, and now can't assemble a winning team.

Plus all the rumors Harden and Westbrook hated Fertitta support of Donald Trump and want out. That's his decision for public support of Trump, which he enjoys benefits from and now can enjoy the costs.

I don't have sympathy for Houston, they can play hardball and make this uncomfortable which they decided to do weeks ago. Well now teams are hesitant to trade as we are at training camp so its their own choice it got to this point.

Either take what you get in a Harden trade or shut up. I don't want to hear about how its so unfair for Houston and players shouldn't have this power and this and that. Houston decided to back themselves in this corner, they get to live with it. Minnesota did as well. Its not some brand new player empowerment phenomenon.

So many stars have forced management's hand and/or held them hostage just in recent history.

- Lebron his first time in Cleveland, and always signing shorter term deals
- Kawhi in San Antonio
- Davis in NO
- Butler in Minny
- Kyrie threatening to have surgery unless he was traded away from CLE.

Thank our lucky stars that Dame is here.

I would put all the players that left in FA after sending false signals to their teams as well:

ie. LMA, Kyrie in Boston, Hayward (twice), etc.

Also, Dwight...

On the flip side, holding on to a player FOR A LITTLE WHILE they were planning on trading worked out well for
Minny (KLove)
NOP (Davis)

Stevie Francis definitely contributed to Vancouver losing its franchise with his hold out.

I bet Chicago regrets that

yeah IMO it's BS, let him sit out however long he wants and not get paid a dime! I am tired of some of these star prima donnas, making huge money and then make trade demands and don't show up - F them!

Here's the deal, these guys can go Dave Chappelle if they want. They can just walk the fuck away at any time. They can take the millions they've earned and retire or sit out as long as they want and they always have been able to. Back in the 80s players sat for almost full seasons with undisclosed injuries before being traded or getting a guy traded to their team that appeased their desire for a change. There is no penalty for any player in this league for just telling their team to screw and sitting their ass down. The only thing they have to lose is future promised earnings (by that I mean every check due to them after they start sitting).

I don't like Harden's attitude and actually never have but I defend anyone's right to make decisions on a daily basis as long as they're willing to live with the consequences. The fact is any all NBA player can force a trade and force it to a preferred destination... and this guy is an NBA MVP. They just say they won't play and follow through on it. All NBA players are such a rare commodity that they have all of the power in this league. No owner can afford to let that kind of asset waste away when someone will give them a similar asset or assets that add up to similar value for the asset that is wasting away.

Oh and if the owner wants to make the epic mistake of finding Harden in breach of contract so he can release James Harden and get nothing in return, lets see him go for it. Harden will sign with a new team for next to nothing for the remainder of the season and then sign a new max deal. Yeah, Harden will have to take a pay cut but it will be nothing in comparison to the loss that it would be for Fertitta. The players have the power and they should, they are what we all show up or tune in to see.

I used to work in call centers and we had disposable front line employees but training their replacements cost us money so it was in our best interests to keep them on. I constantly had to remind the managers under me that our sales people, customer service reps and loyalty center agents were both our employees but for us in that building they were also our only product we were offering to our company. We weren't manufacturing anything. Our entire product was our personnel. I would say I was working in the people business and my people were like landscaping rock, which has value... these NBA teams are in a similar business but their players are like diamonds... sometimes their value is so high it can't be measured and they definitely can't just dispose of them.

also, Melo in Denver; Deron Williams in Utah; I guess PG13 in Indiana, although he gave them plenty of warning
