As bad as portland has looked vs opponents they should best, Houston has looked worse. Granted they don't have Howard or Beverly, but they aren't going into the playoffs with any more confidence than portland. If they keep dropping games it could be disastrous. If Houston slips to the 5 seed the blazers would be sitting better than I could have ever hoped for.

Corey Brewer with 51 points on Houston tonight. Talk about a team in disarray. Can Howard and Beverley mean that much to that team?

Excellent point. You don't think it would have that much of an effect. Better inside presence but let's be honest, asik might be the best backup center in the nba...they shouldn't have that big of a drop off with him over Howard. And Lin as well... Worse defender but by no means bad.

Wow. What an amazing 24 hours of basketball. First Mozgov goes off for 93/29 and now Drummond and Brewer go off. And Noah too. This is fun.

When you think about it it really does matter that much. After Beverly they have no good wing defenders. People love Parsons but he isn't a good defender and its been pointed out all year is actually a bad one and Harden/Lin couldn't Guard a bag of cracker jacks. Asik is a good defender and an amazing backup to have but he isn't as good defensively as Howard and they can't play an inside outside game with Asik in because he is a liability on offense. They like to have their power forwards play more of a stretch 4 type game so they are weak defensively at that position as well.
5 starters only 1 is good, close to elite, defender and their only bench player who is competent on D is Garcia.
People talk about how bad are D is but Houston is worse without Beverly/Howard.
 
Guys I've never heard of seem to tend to have career nights against us at times, those are the guys that scare me. We can take Houston if this team plays up to playoff snuff. The Rockets are not good defensively now but they can score in bunches.

If I'm not mistaken, Parsons had a career night against us once this season. Nic has to bring his A game on defense against this team, they all do.

I was just talking the rockets D. There offense is still very very good and is going to cause us to have fits in the playoffs.

Jeremy Lin is a TERRIBLE Defender. Also, who else on that team besides Howard, Beverly, and Asik can play D? No one that's who.
 
I think seeing Corey go for 51 and being allowed to do that (not that he didn't play crazy and had some nice defensive moves) is more of a testament to HOU thinking they can just 'out score' the other team. If Portland can play 48 mins of solid Defense then this mentality works to our favor, since we can shoot it out too.

This is the best I've ever seen Luke play. He just threw a crossover step back on Terrance Jones that had me rollin!
