I realize he may not have gotten along with Chris Paul, but that doesn't make him a bad coach.
the only foul on LBJ last night that was questionable was when George hill drove on the break and LBJ picked up a foul. The others were all legit fouls. A foul is a foul no matter who the player is. Superstar or not it should be called.
bill simmons needs to stfu.
I call bullshit. 5 fouls in 13 minutes of play is a lot for Meyers Leonard or Joel Freeland, let alone LeBron James. The NBA wanted the TV revenue from a Game 6, and the best way to try and get a Game 6 is to keep the best player in the world out of the game as much as possible. Call every ticky-tack foul, turn a no-call or a block into 2 offensive fouls, and Indy had a chance.

Funny story. I pretty much sat right next to (under) the ESPN crew last night. A guy sitting near me brought Simmons's book and threw it up to him to sign, which he signed "This looks well read". Simmons may sound like a douche sometimes, but I thought that was pretty cool of him.
If you're referring to the charge call on LBJ that Paul George beat him to the spot and LBJ dropped his shoulder to create space then well...... idk what game I was watching.
his fourth and fifth fouls were both legit fouls on him. did lance Stevenson foul LBJ by putting his hands around his waste yes. did LBJ foul lance Stevenson three times after that on that play? yes.
lbj admitted to the 4th foul.
Not going to continue to break down the calls.
Agree to disagree.
Ticky-tacky or not a foul is a foul.
Superstar, best player in the game today. a foul is a foul.
acting like lbj isn't protected at all. didn't the announcers (great source) say LBJ has only fouled out of ONE game as a heat player and that happened this year?
I don't watch all the heat games because I don't like that team. But if that's the case... Yes clearly LBJ doesn't get the treatment.
Odd?
Neither ESPN.go.com nor NBA.com have a box score available online right now of the OKC/Spurs game.
CNNSI.COM works.
MVPs rarely foul out of games. I don't recall Jordan ever getting 5 fouls in 13 minutes of play in an elimination game for the other team, either. Agree to disagree, definitely. Every single time down the court Stephenson could be called for putting his hands on the perimeter ballhandler. Those are technically fouls, too, yet the refs didn't call them last night when he has his hands all over James past the 3-point line. I know people hate James, but let's not pretend that him getting 5 fouls in 13 minutes was at all legitimate in today's NBA. The NBA needed to get some TV ad revenue from this round, since the semifinal series were mostly garbage and lop-sided. Plus, the sponsors who pay for the commercials want to get some bang for their buck, too.
Marv Albert is just lighting into Steve Kerr right now.
Uncomfortable...
your right handchecking is a foul that should be called too. but it hasn't been called in these playoffs consistently unfortunately. see Pactrick Beverly, see Chris Paul, see Reggie Jackson, see Clay Thompson(to name a couple).
But neither has lane violations. Well unless Jermaine O'Neil is involved.
I just like seeing fouls called on players when they're fouls. superstar or not. I don't hate BronBron never had any hate on him for leaving Cleveland. Just like I don't hate Kobe or Garnett like most Portland fans do. I actually love Garnett as a player and his intensity level one of my fav players in the NBA. Liked Garnett when I was a teenager.
Maybe the NBA did fix the game. But I don't think so.
OKC making the Spurs look pedestrian
Impressive
Neil Olshey needs to make some real moves this summer
I'm not saying that touching a player isn't a foul. My point is that James was called for fouls last night that weren't playoff fouls. You do agree that Stephenson was literally fouling James on the perimeter? Because at that point, it becomes about discretion, and my point is that the refs were looking to call fouls on James last night. I wonder if LeBron gets a secret bonus for going along with the act and playing the fool?
I suppose, but I'm not really sure how they can deem PG going for 21 points in the 4th quarter as a conspiracy/fix.
That was really bizarre. For those who missed it, Kerr said something about there being a high probability that they would be back in San Antonio for a game seven. Albert and Miller gave Kerr some shit about it and Kerr got pissed off. Then they argued. And argued some more. And argued some more. And some more. Albert just wouldn't let it die, even after Miller tried to get out of the whole uncomfortable mess.Marv Albert is just lighting into Steve Kerr right now.

In the meantime, there was a basketball game going on. Guys were dunking, fouling, shooting, and those three were having a pissing match over semantics.
We should invite them to join the board!![]()
That crazy back biter must be off his meds.I'll add that after the game ended, Marv started up again with Kerr on-air. Very surreal.

I missed it, think you could provide a transcript via DVR?
James does those same things every night he plays, yet last night he's suddenly called for the fouls? Come on. I know you're at least a bit skeptical of how he ended up on the bench.
Bird to Stephenson: Cut it out
http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/201...s-larry-bird-lance-stephenson-antics-do-again
MIAMI -- Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird called a meeting with Lance Stephenson prior to Friday's Game 6, two days after Stephenson was caught blowing in the ear of Miami Heat star LeBron James and given his second flopping fine of the Eastern Conference finals.
"He said, 'Don't do it again,' so I'm not going to do it again," Stephenson said after the Pacers' shootaround. "He's kept me on the right path my whole career, and if he says something to me, I take it to heart."
When asked what would have happened had Stephenson blown in Bird's ear in a playoff game during Bird's playing days, Stephenson was blunt.
"There probably would've been a fight," he said. "But this is a different type of game from the '90s. You can't throw blows."
Stephenson has been a constant distraction in this series and has drawn more attention for his off-court comments and on-court antics than for his play. In addition to the flopping fines and the ear blowing, Stephenson has gotten involved in protracted trash talking with James and Dwyane Wade.
"I'm not talking about Lance Stephenson for the rest of the playoffs," Chris Bosh, the third part of the star trio in Miami, said Friday.
Yet Stephenson, in an odd admission, says he doesn't think his tactics are even working.
"I don't think I can get into LeBron's head," he said. "He's the best player in the league, he knows how to play through that kind of stuff. I don't think it bothered him at all. I have a lot of respect for him. He's going to find a way to play great."
This statement, of course, opens another area of wondering about Stephenson's motivations. The Pacers, though, are trying to move past all of it as they attempt to win their fourth elimination game of the playoffs.
"It's time to get back to basketball," forward Paul George said. "We have to focus."
Stephenson pissed off the wrong team lol why would you try to get into the heads of such a veteran team with such silly tactics?
