He has only played 5 fewer games then K Love and some are wanting the Blazers to get Love. I personally would rather see them get someone that isn't injury prone before either of them.

I believe all the recent 'get love' chatter was the thought of also getting the 3rd pick in the draft

So the Lakers have four guys under contract correct? And three make a billion a year. Where are they or what situation are they at for filling out the roster I’m too lazy to look it up and assume it’s not official anywhere yet with the trade

They have LeBron, AD, Russ and Gasol under contract and their salaries add up to 120M. They have their draft pick Isaiah Jackson his salary will be 2.5M which will put them at over 122M.

They have bird exceptions on Schroder and Caruso. Wes made 4.3M this season and they have early bird exception for him which means they can offer him around 5.3M. Everyone else besides Horton-Tucker were on vet min deals.

Horton-Tucker will be hard for them to retain because he played so well made 1.8M and although he's restricted they only have early bird exception for him... so they can only match 3.15M.

They'll do something clever with a Schroder sing and trade if that won't hard cap them, they'll keep Caruso and probably Wes. They should have the taxpayer MLE. Then they will get 3 good players on vet min deals who want to live in LA, play with LeBron and are ring chasing.

Dallas just dumped Josh Richardson for nothing.

making room for a large Normie Powell offer. Ugh

Kyle Lowry. Now they have around 45 million in space to spend between Lowry and THJ, and all indications are that they want to re-sign THJ as well.

Ugh, the Lowry thing is scary though because every team is chasing him and he can only choose one team. Whoever fails to get him is going to have a ton of money left over. We can only hope Powell is already off the market by then. Lowry's decision will impact a lot of teams decisions.

Lowry and Luka? Why?

If they get Lowry you can count them as another team in the West that got better as we stand pat.

If we lose Powell and nothing significant changes over the off-season I don’t even think we make the playoffs next year.

I don't think it's that sure of a thing. First, he'll be 36 before the home stretch of next season. Second, he hasn't played more than 65 games in any of the last three years and each year his number of games played has decreased. Third, his VORP last year was his worst since he's become a starter. Fourth, his defensive rating was the worst of his career last season. Fifth, kind of like the Lakers with Westbrook, you're acquiring a ball-dominator when you already have a better ball-dominator.

If we're going in the wrong direction, I just don't know why Dame would wait... if the rumors are true and he is planning to see how the team does before the trade deadline (I know the if on the rumors is a big one). I would think he'd be able to see the writing on the wall and would want to get started with his new team before the season starts.

I really think if we haven't done anything and Powell walks the Vulcans will have to step in and fire Neil... so they can hire a GM to rebuild by the beginning of the season. Sorry to be a downer... I still think there has to be a better chance that we keep Powell than lose him.

kyle lowry is 35 and still has a big value (im not speaking about trade value)

I don't think they would target Lowry before Powell. Powell will be cheaper and give them what they need... defense and shot making next to Luka. Lowry is best with the ball, as is Luka. I guess we'll see.

With all due respect, you've been kind of glass is empty guy the whole offseason, reading tea leaves and finding everything going against the Blazers even if there's nothing or very little to support that.

The Mavericks have been linked to Lowry quite a bit. The Powell links to Dallas have been considerably fewer. Do I think Powell would be better for the Mavericks than Lowry? Sure. But I'm not the Mavs feel that way, and most of the stuff being reported has Lowry as their target, not Norman Powell.

EDIT: Missed three words

There's just a lot up in the air right now with the team and I just don't trust Neil to catch it all. I hope I'm just worrying for no reason but we won't have to wait long. Once we get Norm locked up I'm sure I'll feel a lot more optimistic... not that Norm returning would be enough by itself but at least we wouldn't be moving the wrong way.

Rebuild by the beginning of the season? There’s been a fair share of deals made already. Getting a new GM and completely blowing it up in between Free Agency and training camp is a tough timeline.

Shortly after free agency in between training camp isn’t even a time to wheel and deal as they’re kinda rounding out their rosters. I think finding a GM that quickly and completely reconfiguring our roster isn’t possible then.

Weird fit with Westbrook alongside LeBron, but RW is a lot like Carmelo at this stage: much more marketable than productive. I'm thinking LA sees the window closing already with LeBron and AD's health, and they're more interested in selling tickets and merchandise until retooling with the next generation.

If Powell doesn't sign in Portland, the offseason is already a disaster and Dame is gone
But on the plus side, it doesn't really matter, because with pandemics and global warming, civilization's going to collapse within a decade anyway.
