I hate to be the Blazer fan to say it, but Damon is getting a little over-exposed at this point. I mean, I enjoy seeing it as a fan, and I think he really is a very nice young player. I think he's got a bright future ahead of him, and after years of Portland getting passed over for All-Star game appearances, it's awesome to have two players in the actual game.
I just don't know that he's really quite worth all the media hype/all-star attention he's received. He's a second year player who does benefit a lot from playing next to Aldridge, he hasn't made the playoffs yet, and frankly I'm starting to lose confidence lately that he will lead us out of the first round---he just hasn't had a lot of dominant scoring nights recently.
Part of me wonders if we'll look back on the All-Star Dame-a-palooza a little cringe-y, kind of like the Oden victory parade....I just have this terrible sense of foreboding that Lillard will be terrible over the weekend, his perimeter shooting slump will malinger through the playoffs, and in time he'll be added to the depressingly long lists of Blazers Could-Have-Beens.
*shrug* Maybe I'm just not used to having nice things.
The NBA is full of manufactured stars. If Dame is next on the list, I'll take it. League favor usually brings better treatment from the refs. He'll get his shot back. He just dropped 30+ and 10 assists on the Pacers. The guy is legit. He's just going through a sophomore slump.
