I think what he is saying is that Blazers could (and should) have told Turner to go pound sand. He isn't a good enough player that any team should feel the need to over-pay for his services. NO let himself be blackmailed by a grade C journeyman that the team could easily have lived without.

And I beleive if we had offered him 10mill a year he would have still signed and been almost as happy at the money.

I can't get the car dealership metaphor out of my head. I don't need the effing car. If the price isn't right, just walk away. Save my $$$ for a different car. Neil didn't do that, and ET was totally surprised at how much his agent was able to get him. I do understand why, but shit.
Not the best analogy as we pretty much had to buy a car that was being marked up way too much or have no car at all.

We had like 14 cars, and this was for the 15th.

I understand that Neil set that summer up as a time they had a bunch of expirings, so this was their opportunity to get a great. The problem that I now understand is that that is a time of high variance. Hit, and set up your franchise for years. Miss, and screw it for years. Knowing that, just offer a reasonable price for the car, and walk away if they don't like it. It's not like someone else was going to pay ET what we paid him...

Western Conference Next year

:headbang: Saturday night, DOA wrestling at the Boys and Girls club in Lents. There was a huge brawl involving the entire locker-room. One of the guys climbed up on the basketball backboard and did a suicide dive onto the rest of the wrestlers. Great fun!:smack:

Aminu Says hello....
Here’s the thing, the only ones we got were bottom of the barrel guys who at the time had zero interest around the league, or very minimal at the most. We are not a franchise that gets picked by above average to Star free agents, we never will be. If there are multiple options for a free agent very rarely would he pick pdx without more compensation. There are several reason for this, from exposure to night life to the fucking weather. These are facts.

Exactly, we need to find Value guys.

Some days like today you make complete sense and other days everything you say pisses me off, ha ha.

But
I answered your question did I not? ;)

I can't believe our only signing is Stauskas. Wtf. Seems to me Paul is Not that "aggressive" as Neil allways told

Good lord these types of posts are so ignorant and frustrating to read. Free agency is not one of the avenues the Blazers had to be "aggressive" this summer.

Bjelica would be a sneaky good pick up. He should be our target for the MLE.
What does he offer that Meyers doesn't? Seems like a poor man's Ryan Anderson who would get put into PnR every time he was on the court. Great shooter, what else does he provide.(saying that, he sounds like a perfect Olshey target. Fuck)

I’m loving these “what does he provide other than shooting??” stances on this board this summer as if it wasn’t one of, if not our biggest, issue last season. Also, we’re not going to find two way players for the tax MLE, so lower the expectations, yeah?

Being able to come off the bench and hit 3s while being able to play the 3 or 4 is worth the tax MLE. Bjelica was to the wolves as Harkless was to the Blazers last year. When he was playing well they were a much better team, if you can get that same value for 5 mil a year that’s a “sneaky good pick up”. I would see him as a poor mans Mirotic.

He doesn't play the 3, though

Does he need to? We just lost a backup big.
Well, the post before mine said he plays the 3 and 4.

And I didnt whine that all he does is shoot. I asked what he gives us Meyers does not.

If Collins is supposed to be playing more down low this next season, pairing him with an outside shooter like Bjelica might not be a bad idea.
