If Indy wants Jerami for me it would cost them Hield and Jarace Walker. I would route Hield to a third team for two first rounders or even one if it was good and only had expirings coming back.

I think depending on how Indy values Walker he could have this kind of value. The Pacers have a bunch of guards and play 6'6" Nesmith at the 4 a lot, they could use some length especially on D. They also don't have a lot of two way players and Jeremi is one. Jeremi also scores a lot more than anyone on their team after Haliburton.

I think Jerami could definitely help them win more now than Jarace and Buddy.

Good luck trying to get even one 1st for Hield lol. Hield + another useful piece to a team could get a 1st I think, but you’re asking for too much when you’re asking for two 1sts. Sometime, I don’t even feel that Brogdon could fetch two 1sts unless it came with absolutely no useful players. Hield is a step down from Brogdon as a player.

Jarace Walker would definitely be the prize, but I’m fine taking back Toppin, Hield, the ‘24 OKC 1st, and a top 10 protected ‘25 IND 1st. Then try to either trade a combination of Hield, Toppin, Brogdon with the OKC 1st, CHA 2nd, and ATL 2nd to get an upgrade at the forward spot or obtain more 1sts.
 
I don't think there's any way a Jerami and Turner front court works. Worst rebounding team in the league.

I kind of think Brogdon would help out Indiana a lot. He'd be a major upgrade over Hield on defense and could help unlock Mathurin. I'm not sure he has the legs to play as fast as they like though.

I like the thought of sending Jerami and Murray to Sacramento for Barnes, Lyles, and a pick. Jerami would fit really well next to Sabonis and help their defense.

I think we could flip either or both of Barnes and Lyles and keep getting assets, plus they're both vets that play the right way. Lyles could play backup 5 for us which would be helpful, but I could also see him having value in Utah or OKC. I'd like to get Dieng or Agbaji as decent upside young guys that can stretch the floor, help with our tank, and low risk.

You might be right about a possible Grant/Turner front court’s rebounding issues. I’m not really interested the trade you outlinedz. Jerami is a better player than Barnes to me, and we just drafted Kris, so we’re downgrading from Grant to Branes to get rid of the mistake of drafting Murray just 6 months ago?

We could maybe facilitate a Siakam to Indy deal and send Kris + Brogdon for Walker.

We get: Walker, ThadYoung, Okeke (waive), Fultz (expiring), ‘24 OKC 1st

Indy gets: Siakam

Toronto gets: Brogdon, Hield, Kris, ‘25 unprotected IND 1st, ‘27 unprotected IND 1st, 3 2nds (from Magic)

Orlando gets: GTJ
 
How about a Jerami Grant/Scoot Henderson package for Zion Williamson. A lot of negative discourse about Zion's weight currently. We would definitely be buying low on Zion right now.

Griffin supposedly wanted Scoot badly before the draft.

What happens in 38 days?

I'd probably take that Zion trade scenario - knowing it most likely will not work. The way I look at it is Grant is nice, but relatively easily replaced.

The question becomes is it more likely that you can get Zion's head/body right and turn him into a monster (he already has shown he can be dominate in the NBA) - or that Scoot can become an all-star level player?
I don't put the likelihood of either happening very high... but I'd lean towards Zion.

Here's the thought process:

Jerami talent > Barnes talent
Barnes contract > Jerami contract (tradeability and length)
Lyles talent > Murray talent (and may be able to be flipped to a contender looking for size like OKC)
1st round pick > no 1st round pick

Barnes becomes our new Brogdon. Placeholder, good vet influence, ready to flip in the offseason or at next trade deadline.

Why are you talking about Trey Lyles like he’s still that 12th pick in ‘15 that some people were excited about? That is already false “Lyles talent > Murray talent. Lyles isn’t a bad vet to have on a team, but I’m trading a 2nd rounder for him to fit into our TPE if I want him, not trading the dude I drafted with a 1st rounder six months ago.

You’re also assuming Jerami’s contract isn’t as tradeable. The salary difference actually matches the skill level. Barnes averages half the points as Grant, just as many rebounds, worse on defense, on basically as much PT.

“1st round pick > no 1st round pick”—you’ve already put yourself in the “no 1st round pick” category trading Kris for a 1st. You didn’t gain a 1st, you’re getting a redo is a worse draft than last summer.

Like I said, we would definitely be buying low and taking a risk on Zion. But for a player of his caliber I think it's a risk worth taking. He just seems checked out in New Orleans. I feel this could be a situation where a change of scenery may benefit him.

My cousin works for Jordan Brand and he said when Zion was rehabbing in Portland, they kept close eyes on him. They have invested A LOT into Zion and want to make sure their investment is protected. Maybe with Jordan Brand monitoring out in Portland it will help him focus on his health.

That's a bold idea, but I'd rather wait/hope for Scoot to develop. Zion will never be a reliable player.

This is his worst game since he's been back I think. For the record, I'm not sure I'd look to sell on Anfernee yet. I think Detroit says yes, Portland doesn't.

One rationale to say yes is you believe in Scoot, and even if you don't point guards are easier to find if he's not the guy. Ausar is terrible on offense right now.

I don’t think either GM is going to admit they were wrong yet. Too early in the game. That’s almost what trading away a prospect means. Admitting you were wrong.

I don’t think it would be either GM admitting they were wrong. Pistons made the right choice draft Ausar, he was the best possible prospect left. It’s just a shame that the BPA was a non shooter. The Blazers aren’t admitting they’re wrong either. What exactly would Cronin have been wrong about? He didn’t draft Ant, he only gave Ant the extension. And if giving Ant that extension turned into acquiring a top 5 pick in a stacked class in the middle of his rookie year, who is telling him that was the wrong decision?

I initially loved the idea when I read your post, less thrilled now though, and I’m a huge fan of the Thompsons.

I’m just logic-ing my way through this thought: we need a forward wayyy less than they need shooting right now. We are literally just in the process of a rebuild, while Detroit has spent the last three years not building the right roster around Cade. We’re not in a rush to trade Ant, but the Pistons are in a rush to improve this team to give Cade some glimmer of hope.

The Pistons can forget about being in the running for Mitchell or anyone like that. In FA, there is no guard good enough to actually improve the team. In the trade market, they could probably get a guy like DLo or Brogdon. In the draft, I’m not 100% sure Topic or Collier ends up being a better player than Ant. That’s not even bias as a Blazers fan, it’s based on what I’ve observed from this crop. It’s also going to take more than one guy to change the spacing on this team.

So the way I see it, the only reason to trade Ant to the Pistons is if they offer us Ausar, PLUS draft compensation. Yes, the Pistons would have to believe Ant will be a star for them. If they don’t think Ant will become a star, move along. We have 2 1sts and a high 2nd to finish forwards. If the Ant from the last two games is the worst Ant we’ll see all season, we got a pretty special player.
 
The last three games are proof that you need Grant. You can’t play Camara and Walker too much because they can’t shoot. Simons/Sharpe/Camara/Grant/Ayton is a decent enough shooting team that Camaras bad shooting won’t be as bad.

The other side of that coin would be that we’re seeing so much development from the team despite not having Grant or DA. The last two games, we’ve been in it until the end regardless of the size difference.

I think trading Grant isn’t as big of a priority as trading Brogdon, but it’s just a thought. I do think Grant should be traded before the beginning of next season though.
