I never said people only liked him because of his 3pt percentage. And I don't believe I've even said anything bad about the guy, because I like him. Unless me thinking his current 3pt percentage is a bit of an anomoly is me ripping on him. I don't think it is because nobody has really wanted to bet me otherwise.
I really don’t think his newfound shooting stroke is an anomaly. Not that I think he’ll continue to be a 42% 3pt shooter going forward, but I think he’ll continue to develop his reputation as a floor spacer. His confidence shooting the ball is night and day. He gets 3’s up now with no hesitation.

Personally, I do think 40ish% on the 4 3pa is sustainable, but I hope he starts to shoot more of them. 36-37% on double the volume would make him twice as valuable imo, even if the percentage dips.

I hope you're right.

I continue to read people say they have confidence 40% is sustainable, but nobody is taking me up on my offer.

I don’t bet money on opinions. I mean I guess if you want to go play Texas Hold ‘em I will bet money for that, but I don’t bet on sports.

I wouldn't bet money on your opinions either... you'd be broke!

I would have raked it in for my stance on Dame during the summer.

No you wouldn't have.

Just don't come back when Thybulle finishes the season at 40% from 3 this year and say you knew it! Your chance to really stand behind your beliefs is now! And I want this to happen!

How much more do you want me to stand behind it? :smiley-unsure:
I think he will finish between 38-40% which is where he has been since joining the team.

The way to get two 1sts out of any Grant or Brogdon trade would be to trade 2nds for win-now players like Justin Holiday and Delon Wright. Combining those guys with players from a returning Grant/Brogdon deal should be able to get a 1st.

So get stuff back from Grant trade for filler and a 1st, then pairing the filler + Holiday or Wright for a another 1st, and repeat the process with Brogdon. If Cronin plays his cards right, he could trade Grant, Brogdon, and a few 2nds for 4 1sts.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but there is a rumor of Grant to Indiana, with the main return to us being Jarace Walker.

Grant has helped us be a competitive team, and I think he's a very good piece on a good team. But with him hitting 30, I get why we're trying to trade down.

link?

Pritchard would be silly to dump a lottery pick that quickly unless he saw something massively discouraging. Hali is 23.

Teams trade lotto picks for sure things all the time.

Jerami Grant is the "3nD" player all teams covet. If you're a good on ball defender, and can hit 40%+ of your 3s, teams are going to want you. Also Grant is a versatile scorer, no off court issues....

why would Pritchard accelerate their timeline like that?

Haliburton looks to be in his prime now, so why wait? Walker may or may not ever be as good as Grant is now. Haliburton has openly talked about wanting to recruit players to Indy. They went after Siakim but Toronto isn't selling. This is not an "adrian wojinowski" rumor, just an idea that's floating around.

Because job security, that’s why. A development track (selling the future) for a GM is safer and easier to sell than putting assets on the line and raising expectations.

can you share the link to the floating rumor? genuinely curious who came up with this thing, lol.

thx. though I don't see jarace's name in that trade idea except the Blazer's Edge guy speculating about it.

i'd be gobsmacked if jarace was dealt at the deadline—especially if it was pritchard (who was letting it bake with the blazers while hinkie was still just a vp with the rockets).

the only people talking about jarace are hopeful blazers fans projecting their dreams onto a grant trade.

Maybe he learned from sitting on his hands. He saw a lot of supposed young talent materialize into nothing.

Trading picks and young players for vets won the Celtics a championship. The majority of lottery picks don't amount to much. Jerami is better right now than 80% of every lottery pick that has ever been taken.

If we offered

It's not based on any mythical "inside source", but Haliburton has been open about wanting to recruit players to Indiana. Jerami would be a good fit for them.

Just telling you what's realistic—it's very rare when teams immediately move off lottery players months into their rookie season, but it does happen.

It's very rare that GMs with 23 year old stars accelerate their timelines arbitrarily by pushing in their assets without some sort of external pressure—but it does happen.

I wouldn't hold my breath that Indiana puts Jarace on the table.

Agreed. Pacers have always been my #1 trade target. I stated that in one of these threads 4-6 weeks ago.

I just highly doubt they'd give up Walker.

If they'd give up Toppin, Hield and a future first that even if protected was guaranteed to convey at some point and then we were able to trade Hield for another FRP then it would be a good return for Jerami. I think it all depends on if they think Jarace Walker is worth Toppin and a future first. Which is to say how much more value do they place on Walker than they do on Toppin?

If they can somehow finagle Walker I would be ECSTATIC. Literally the most perfect fit next to Ant/Shaedon as you could ask for. Beast of a defender that can play pick and roll and has a developing shot. I'd even be willing to add to Grant to get Walker.

"Add Grant to get Walker"? Grant would be the minimum necessary to get him.

If both the Pacers and us have that high of a value on Walker, it might just mean that we have to give Indy what a third team is willing to give up for Hield in terms of draft capital.

Toppin and Walker were both recent #8 picks. Toppin may be a better prospect even....
I think he's definitely more ready to contribute to wins now and he's 25. I really think there is a good chance that the Pacers would be cool with getting Jerami who is only two years older than Turner for both Hield and Wallace. I guess we'll wait and see. Should be pretty interesting between January 15th and February 8th.

I think we need to hold out for Walker and Hield with Indy. If the Pacers’ desire to compete right now isn’t exaggerated, then their need to acquire Grant greatly outweighs our need to get rid of Grant.

Grant still isn’t the big fish it looks like, it looks like it’s still OG/Siakam. So the question will be whether or not Indy will wait for a month to see Toronto’s direction at the deadline. The east is wide open for Indy to claim HCA if they gel with their forward as quick as they can before the playoffs start.
