I don't think there's any chance at all that the DA move was a wink wink portion of a Grant trade. Would love to be wrong.
Yeah tough to believe but don’t they have the same agent?

Just a wild idea

Grant + Williams to Atlanta

for Trae Young and 2026 first round pick (they have 2)

This gets a first for next year. We get a huge expiring contract in Young ($45m) and he can share minutes with Scoot and Jrue next season.

ESPN Trade Machine approved

Trae’s expiring will make room for the return of Dame!

Id keep Grant and hold out for Giannis. Seems just as likely.

Why on earth would Atlanta do that?

If we wanted to go win now I had been pondering if we would go for Trae (I'm not saying one way or another if I would have liked that trade. Just saying it crossed my mind as something we might try for) but that thought went away once the Hawks traded for Porzingis. I think they run it back.

Trae is basically a slightly better Ant/Sexton/Clarkson.... No thanks.

I'd much rather honestly just watch 21 year old Scoot and old man Jrue

I think this pretty much puts an end to Trae going anywhere at least until the deadline if they suck.

Damn and Hawks signed Luke Kennard as well.

Plus they have better lotto odds than any team in the NBA with both the Pelicans and Bucks ping pong balls.

So since were taking on $727k in this deal it still wouldn't trigger their hard cap? I like getting out of Murray deal - this also only costs us one roster spot to hold onto Vincent/Kleber. I'd keep them for possible deadline deal or bench depth.

Murray is a wasted roster spot. I'd rather see Rupert get any minutes that Murray might get.
Vanderbilt is underrated IMO. He is Tisse plus a few inches of length (don't even say it). If defense is the priority, JV would be a good bench piece. He also handles the ball better than expected.
Knecht would be nice if they could build his defense to be acceptable and he shoots like expected.
Kleber and Vincent are both good shooters so I'd say keep one of them for depth and possible filler in trades.

Yeah, I like Vando and Knecht as bench pieces, they both have had that role and would be coming into the team fresh. I think Jerami provides LA with something none of those guys can give them on both ends of the floor. He could duke it out with Rui for who gets that last starting spot on that team. We can just move the fuck on from all of the guys who seem to be unwilling to play Chauncey's style of ball.

I think we can forget about the Lakers. They want to preserve cap space for the summer of 2027. Unless Jerami opts out after 2026-2027, I don’t think they want him.

At that point though, Lebron surely retires right?

I would much rather have Hachimura who does fill a need as a spark plug scorer off the bench and also a one year deal. Knecht is alright and still young, although I wouldn’t consider him an asset coming back, I’d consider him a wash swapping him for Grant.

Camara/Knetch/Rupert
Avdija/Rui/Murray

I do like that core of wings if only for just this year.

If there is a Lakers deal in place, in my mind Dalton Knetch still has to be part of the deal.

He still has three cheap years left on his deal and we know he has one distinct skill in being able to light it up. Whether or not you think he won’t fit the defensive construction or not shouldn’t matter, with three years left, you figure out if you can mask his liability.

Then whether or not we can or not will be the reason he is or isn’t here when his rookie deal expires.

Blazers had a golden opportunity to get off Grant deal last summer. Grant had a very productive year. Botched opportunity.

But now after last season Geant was a mediocre backup on a lottery team. Every franchise is concerned about tax aprons. Guys just don't have any value on those big contracts with such mediocre performance.

Hopefully Blazers are telling Grant group he needs to find a trade or be willing to come off the bench.

No, he'll cash in his 50 million. All bets are off for next summer though. I could see the Lakers unwilling to give him a max level deal. They 100% first will do anything Luka wants until he resigns.

First time in his career LeBron hasn't been the star player of a franchise.

Think the hope is just to get worthless players like Vincent and Kleber so the Blazers can get out of Grant contract.

Of course Knecht or a pick swap would be great. But when the alternative is the Blazers being stuck with Grant for 3 more years - status quo is the worse option.

Yeah - I think if the Lakers or anyone were offering a deal for Grant it would've been done at the draft or last night.

I fully expect to see Grant on the Blazers opening night.

If we were prepared to give Milwaukee one of its picks back, Grant could be a Buck tomorrow.

Just want to point out Deni and Rui had two seasons together - it didn't seem like they were able to Gel well or create positive chemistry - and I consider Deni to be very easy to Gel with..
All in all - just pointing I would take Rui with a grain of salt and low expectations..

repeating BS a million times doesn't make it any more true it just makes you look more and more ridiculous. Post re-signing a monster of an escalating deal with the PTB Grant became more or less untradable. Dude had a mediocre season last year with 4 more years left on his deal. That season (when he was 29) was the 3rd straight season his stats went down & he was never much more then an okay starter in the first place. There is no good reason to think any team would have an interest in adding a declining mediocre player on the wrong side of 3o who's salary takes up 20% of the cap except to offload a similarly terrible longterm contract or unless Portland included serious draft capitol to make him go away
