Rangers Videos on Twitter: ""He's a coach that lets you go out there and do your thing" Barclay Goodrow on Gerard Gallant: https://t.co/S11nmeWssI" / Twitter
I have not been too hard on Gallant overall, like every coach he has pros and cons. And I also take all player quotes with a grain of salt. But after what we just watched, I do not like this quote from Goodrow. "A coach who lets you go out there and do your thing" - that translates to a lack of plan, lack of system, lack of structure, and importantly a lack of accountability. And that is EXACTLY what we all saw this series. A bunch of very good hockey players all just doing their own thing, loose with the puck, with no structure or identity to fall back on. Not a team. When you don't start with a cohesive gameplan, you can't adjust it.
Goodrow did not win two cups with a coach who let him go out there and do his own thing.
