But the o in Schröder has an umlaut, so Rasta is correct. It's not that hard.

Most professional sports commentators (in every sport) are anything but when it comes to name pronunciation.

Too bad yours is the only post with the actual umlaut (fucking Christ its nearly impossible to type umlaut on a phone without fat fingering the delete key). Anyway I was being a little ironic; but doesn't the umlaut over an o mean its an ooh?

EDIT: just spent three minutes trying to wiki pronounce the name and its just not a vowel combination Americans will ever get more than half right. The closest I can come is Schrrrrdrrr. I sound like Hodor.

...and with that, BC came up with Sherderrrrs new nickname.

Also, we Americans are so stupid! I mean, that gall of pronouncing Schroder "SHROW-der". Ethnocentric pricks!

My Austrian last name is mispronounced all of the time by these silly Americans. Can I see if Rasta can pronounce it, and then call him an idiot if he gets it wrong?

LOL!

The worse crime is conjuring the ghost of Ricky Schroeder, of Silver Spoons game. :ghoti:

I hate trying to discuss pronunciation via a text based medium. I don't know why I got involved, I really shouldn't have.

Reggie Miller just spent 5 minutes calling Matthew Dellavedova "Delledova". Should've taken the easy option, and called him Delly.

Dellavedova would have double figure assists if his Cleveland teammates could hit wide open jump shots. He was also coaching his own teammates out on the court.

I never was very good at figuring out how to pronounce things by looking at the phonetic symbols.

I don't get the Shrerder, but don't pronounce the r, example? Greek to me.

I would have thought it was Schrayder. :dunno:

Too bad he's not a Blazer, then I could just rely on Mike Rice's pronunciation like I always do. :pimp:

What's in a name? That which we call a shrowder, by any other name would play as sweet

Picture of CJ in high school. Wow. Glad he grew up.

Whoa! I thought this was a joke/photoshopped. He looks like an elementary school student there.

Less than 24 hours away from the Blazers' first summer league game and they haven't released a starting line-up yet?

My guess is:
PG: CJ
SG: Crabbe
SF: Claver
PF: T-Rob
C: Meyers

Barton can come in off the bench and create shots for himself and the second unit. Freeland can play both back-up PF or back-up C. Hopefully, these 7 guys get the bulk of all the minutes. I wanna see what we have in these youngsters.

I'll be at the game tomorrow! I know mags is goin, anybody else?? Buehler? Can't wait, summer league is the shit!

My dude Otto Porter looking good. I can't believe a lot of folks on here didn't like the guy.

Veseley looking much improved as well. Washington might be good this year.

I can't make it. I made it to the next round of the slot tourney. Sucks, but cheer extra loud for me.

Henceforth, I shall call him Erkel.

BTW, that's Kosta Koufos in the background on his team.

So it appears we won't know for sure the starting line-up until game time.

From Just Casey's Blog:

Summer League Shootaround: Starters Not Known, McCollum Carries A Lot And Crabbe Is Bit Nervous

The Portland Trail Blazers begin their 2013 Las Vegas Summer League tonight at 5:30 PM against the Phoenix Suns at Thomas & Mack. You can watch live by purchasing Summer League Pass or wait for the tape-delayed broadcast at 10 PM on NBA TV.

Some notes from this morning's shootaround ...

-- Portland assistant coaches David Vanterpool and Nate Tibbetts will take turns acting as the team's head coach during Summer League, with Vanterpool drawing tonight's opener against the Suns. And you can tell he's ready for the task, as he was already in midseason form when it comes to being coy about the starting lineup.

"We kind of reserve the right to decide at game time," said Vanterpool, "so we're keeping that close. I've got some ideas in my head."

It's to assume that CJ McCollum, Victor Claver and Meyers Leonard will start at the point, small forward and center, respectively. But it's not clear if Will Barton or Allen Crabbe will start at shooting guard, no is it a guarantee that Thomas Robinson will start at power forward over Joel Freeland. I'd give an edge to Barton and Robinson getting the nod.

It's only natural for Vanterpool to decline comment on the starting lineup seeing as how his boss, head coach Terry Stotts, typically does the same. And there's one other factor that makes Vanterpool's reticence unsurprising.

"I was in Oklahoma City before this," said Vanterpool, a reference to the Thunders' notoriously tight-lipped stance when it comes to media. "I can't help it."

One thing Vanterpool did make clear is Damian Lillard, despite being on the roster, will not play tonight against the Suns. Everyone else under contract will see significant time.

Said Vanterpool: "We're here to win, we want to win, so our guys are definitely going to play so you'll get a chance to see the guys who were here last year as well as the draft picks. They'll definitely play a lot of minutes."

I'm sittin here in Thomas and Mack waiting for the wolves game to start! Couple blazer fans just sat down in front of me. Got my seat secured for the night! I'll post some pics if I can figure out how from my phone. Can't wait to see our boys!

Really? I thought he was looking a little lost. But nobody on either team is distinguishing himself - it's a brickfest. (29% vs. 25% at the half.)

I only watched the first 5 minutes then had to go run errands. He hit a couple jumpers and made a couple nice defensive plays in that time.

I'll be at the Timbers game. So this is perfect for me.

There's a player named McCallum on the Kings that wears #3. I freaked we may have executed a trade about which I hadn't heard.
