Ironic that he wears #12
How is it ironic? Seems more coincidental to me.

Looks like the next Dirk. I wonder how he plays if someone is actually guarding him.
Blazers fans would hate him though. He's a good three point shooter. That's just not right.

As I said, ironic
Simmons mentioned this in his article.
Boozer + Mirotic + charlottes pick + unprotected 14 bulls pick for LMA
That's pretty much what the Bulls would have offered Orlando for DHoward.
And you know this because?
Of course, they would've been smart not to offer much, given how little time he would've stayed in Chicago.
The Bulls thinking is to amnesty Boozer after the season.
Why? So they're not in "repeater" territory?
And does Boozer know this?
...we overpaid for batum...
Conclusion
Statistically, Nicolas Batum ranks about middle of the pack when compared to the better perceived starting small forwards in the league (not including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, or Camelo Anthony for obvious reasons). Value wise, when compared to other veterans, he is very well priced. My opinion is that it would be very difficult to replace his performance for less money
They can't buy out Mirotic's contract to bring him over. They can pay him enough so he can buy out his own contract. That's my understanding.
To make enough cap space for Mirotic, they need to amnesty Boozer or let Deng walk.
The thinking is that they would use their bird exception to go over the cap to re-sign Deng. After signing Mirotic.
They'd be over the cap, under the LT.
If they lose Deng, they have a logjam at PF with Boozer, Taj, and Mirotic, and only Dunleavy at SF.
Amnesty of Boozer AND letting Deng walk leaves them ~$2M in cap space to replace Deng. $2M isn't much to replace an all star.
The obvious solution is to trade Boozer and Mirotic for Aldridge. Solves all your problems and you can re-sign Deng.
Really? What does he do better than LaMarcus? Shoot threes better? And the fans on this board won't crucify a three-point-shooting PF? That clip did not show him doing anything against any real pressure or defense, or against NBA players. And it didn't show him playing defense at all. Can he defend NBA players? Can he rebound against NBA players? There is nothing there. It's a highlight clip. I should have whoever made that one make one for me.After watching that Mirotic video I guess I'm on-board with a CHI trade if it brings him to POR. I'm always suspect of highly-touted European players, but it's abundantly clear that his skills are superior to LMA's. Whether he actually translates to the NBA is still in question, but I'd take the risk. Better than giving LMA a max extension in the unlikely event that he decides he wants to stay in POR.

He dribbles the ball better, for one. He catches the ball better, for another. He has better footwork, for a third. He absorbs contact while keeping the ball high, for a fourth. And he appears to have a quicker release on his shot, for a fifth.Really? What does he do better than LaMarcus? Shoot threes better? I do understand that the defensive pressure was...lacking. However, I don't think LMA could perform those moves facing similar defense. He hasn't ever shown the coordination that Mirotic shows in that highlight video.
As for defense - he might suck (probably does). But that's not LMA's strong suit either - he's adequate as a ball-defender and atrocious as a help-defender. So even if Mirotic isn't good on defense, it's not a HUGE loss there.
And believe me, I don't put much stock in highlight videos when it comes to evaluating players - the jump in the talent pool from NCAA or Europe to the NBA is huge. A video can show you whether a player possesses certain skills, but it can't show whether those skills will translate from one league to another. In my post I stated that it's still in question as to whether Mirotic can actually display those skills on an NBA court. However, the video does clearly show that he has skills that LMA doesn't possess.
Mirotic sounds like a SF to me. Don't mention that LMA has skills that Mirotic doesn't possess, such as an NBA body and a post game.
As much of a SF as this guy?

Similar size and weight.
Yes, because size and weight rather than style and skillset determine a player's best position.
