Portland Trades Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews and Victor Claver to Memphis

Memphis Trades Mike Conley, and Tony Allen to Portland.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lbttz3t

I would even throw in a 2018 pick if needed to get the deal done although the straight up deal would be more ideal.

Why do I trade Lillard? Defense. I love Damian but the kids defense is suspect at best he is a dynamic scorer but to win in this league especially in the playoffs we need defense. Conley is a great player in his own regard he can score, pass but mostly his defense elevates him above Lillard in my opinion.

Why do I trade Matthews? I also really like the grit that Wesley provides this team and his three point shooting this year has been terrific but I need Conley and Matthews helps make the salaries match and he should be a valuable enough piece as a scorer and as an expiring contract to convince the Grizzlies to make this deal.

Why do I trade Claver? He won’t play in my rotation so I added him for some cap flexibility.

Why does Memphis do the deal? Conley has a great contract and Allen has provided the grit the team needs in the playoffs to be a threat but the team’s window is closing. Gasol, Randolph, Prince are all expiring contracts next year. Lillard provides long term flexibility for the team as his rookie scale contract opens up lots of potential cap space. In addition, Marc Gasol’s post defense would help hide Lillard’s defense weakness. Matthews would be an upgrade over Lee and Allen at SG, in addition he would be an easily tradeable contract should Memphis decide to blow it up before the deadline next season. The nightlife and the duo of Gasol and Lillard will attract interest in free agents and should help this team remain competitive beyond just next season. If all that is not enough than a future first round pick would provide extra incentive.

Portland seems to have CJ penciled in as SG if that is to be his spot they need to clear room for him. A combo of McCollum and Allen would be great at SG, CJ could come in and provide the offensive spark and perimeter shooting the team needs while Allen could take over defensively.

Conley, Allen, Batum, Aldridge, and Lopez would be a top 10 defensive team and Portland would still be able to score.

I believe this team would give us a much better chance of making a run in the playoffs.

Thoughts, hate messages, bring them on.

Hey' how does your own colon look up close like that?

What is happening to this forum? I'm being serious. We went from a well respected place where we could come together and talk hoops.......to god damn ClownTown with threads like this.
Wait for it......some MOD to come in and say, "everybody is allowed to their opinion"..... yes they are, but shouldn't start a shit thread and clutter this place up every time some lightbulb goes off!

That's the worst trade I've ever seen on here. Easily. Pure shit

Good grief man... stop lumping in the entire forum with a couple people. It's so annoying.

You need to be banned. This is just calling for attention with no substance.

What are you talking about. this forum has become almost unreadable in the last 2 months! I'm not the only person who has stopped posting here lately. I understand people can come on here and talk about there team, but it isn't what it used to be. Sorry to point out the obvious, sorry if that is annoying.

So the forum has become unreadable since the team started playing like shit? Is that what you're saying?

My favorite part of this post is "Why Memphis does the deal..." and then continues on for 9 lines of text... lol

Let's further entice them to take our 23yo All Star PG and our starting SG by adding a pick for their good, but not great PG and 32 year old shooting guard.

No it started in late November/Early December.

I guess what I don't understand is you guys who take this stuff so seriously that it actually pisses you off when someone posts a silly trade or a rant about a player. It's the internet. People post stupid shit. They usually have no filter. They post whatever comes into their minds. That's kinda the point of a forum. Post your thoughts. It's not all supposed to be something you agree with. Why do you care if "random poster 123" comes up with goofy trades that will never happen?

Hate me or the trade all you want but if your going to bad mouth something have a reasonable fucking take and defend it like a man or woman whatever you are. No one and I repeat no one has offered even a hint as to why this deal would not make the Blazers better suited for playoff success. Furthermore, as we are now past the trade deadline this deal gets done in the off season after we see if the current team can succeed in the playoffs.
This dumbass idea doesn't warrant a legit response

Bro, It's an idiotic trade. You don't need as many lines as you typed to explain that. No one needs to offer a "hint". You're trading our All Star PG and our 2 best shooters for guys that can't shoot and aren't All Stars... You're trippin...

I'm also not even convinced that our defense would be that much better, as he said.

You guys don't understand... Conley and Allen will get us to the playoffs... I mean, look at how good Memphis is... oh you mean they have a worse record??

Well, to be fair, Gasol was out for a while. He's pretty much the heart and soul of that team. Funny enough, they got rid of Hollins and the team went to shit.

Look if you want an analysis on it that's great, and while defense is definitely very beneficial, it isn't the end all be all in the NBA, you still have to score more than your opponents. With basketball it's a balance. In your proposal Conley becomes our 2nd scorer, but isn't even as efficient as Matthews, and Allen isn't even as efficient as Lopez. So we trade our 2nd and 3rd scoring options for guys that become 2nd (But worse than our current 3rd) and our new 5th scorer. Ok so we would be a bit better on D, but would we wouldn't be as good on D as Memphis currently is and that teams not winning a title any time soon, mostly because they lack a Dynamic scorer.

Maybe it has become unreadable because you don't post shit about basketball. In 3 full pages you have 2 comments basketball related, one about Robinson getting some extra minutes and one about playing OKC and LAC back to back. Get off your fucking soap box and make some real posts. You don't like the shit on here then fucking write something you do like. Talk about the good parts of the team, a player etc. Or just continue to bitch it is the internet and that is your right but it certainly does not make the forum better.

I have to agree with this. HCP rarely actually posts about the team. He mostly posts about himself

Offensive Rating - Defensive Rating - Net (Ratings are points produced or allowed per 100 posessions)
Lillard: 117 - 111 - +6
Matthews: 120 -110 - +10
Total Net: +16

Conley: 115 - 106 - +9
Allen: 103 - 102 - +1
Total Net: +10

And we get to get older across the board, and give up a dynamic... Let me stress that dynamic scorer. One key to playoffs is having a guy that can make the big shot, Conley is not that.

3 full pages of what? This forum? I just told you I along with a few others have stopped posting because of the influx of bullshit. Rook, are you questioning if I make this forum better or not?

I putting down 70 hour work weeks this time of year......I tend to talk more hoops from May-October FAMS.

They lack a dynamic scorer and a perimeter threat outside of Conley, Portland would still have LA and they would still have Williams, Batum and McCollum who can shoot the ball from downtown. Memphis biggest weaknesses do not exist here.

If Ricky Rubio is dropping 20 on your PG and George Hill is going for over 30 WTF is Steph Curry, Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker or Chris Paul going to do.
