These traits are invaluable in close playoff games when everyone is more focused. Conley can't even compare.

I don't care a lot ofr DRtg to compare one defender to another, because it is SO dependant on the player's team and their scheme. If you look, last season, Zach Randolph had a DRtg of 99. That put him 13th in the league! 13th! I'm not saying Zach is the worst defender ever or anything. He's not. But forgive me for not putting too much stock into a stat that shows him as a top 15 defender in a given year.

I think it's safe to say that their are what 30 teams.......I bet there isn't 1 coach that would name Conley their starter over Dame! What a joke.

Is there a way to look up the PER for/against in past seasons? 82games.com is only for this season, right?

My only issue with that, and again, it's making excuses about stats, but, they list PER against at position. So last week, when we played SA, Nic covered Patty for a good chunk of that game. And got burnt a lot in the process. No mattr what Lillard does against the SF he's asked to cover, HIS PER against will end up looking bad because of the opposing PG going off. I don't think they go game by game and factor in who is covering who.

mysynergysports.com will, but can also be tricky, because it can make Kevin Martin look like a better defender than, say, Corey Brewer because they put Martin on the shittiest stand still player they could find, and Brewer against an opponent's top wing.

Yeah, I had some of the same issues with those stats you mentioned along with defensive rating and offensive rating.
 
So here is his PER for/against

2007-2008: 13.2 / 16.5
2008-2009: 16.1 / 17.4
2009-2010: 15.4 / 18.5
2010-2011: 16.3 / 16.5
2011-2012: 16.6 / 15.5
2012-2013: 18.7 / 14.7
2013-2014: 21.9 / 17.1

Here's Dame so far:

2012-2013: 16.3 / 15.5
2013-2014: 19.0 / 17.2
