Maybe they should kick OSU out of the Pac 12....pathetic.

Maybe they should kick OSU out of the Pac 12....pathetic.

When I was a kid Dwight Jaynes wrote article after article saying that OSU and U of O should leave the Pac 10 because they could never compete.

If Washington State can be competitive in the Pac 12 then so can OSU. Just gotta find the right coach.

I like Mike Riley and I like Gary Anderson....coaching is not the Beavers problem....having no depth and size is their problem, always has been...you can't have a defensive line that's smaller than the other team's offensive line.....Beavs have recruiting problems...and limited resources unlike the Ducks...Minnesota ran right through that defensive line right up the middle play after play....they're going to get crushed in the Pac 12 no matter if you get a Chip Kelly...they have coaching but no talent or size up front....Spud Webb can't be your middle linebacker and your recievers can't drop the ball 7 times in a game.

Dude come on. This is the talk of someone that obviously hasnt watched osu football much other than civil war games.

Beavs always seem to start out slow.

Yes, we look bad and very well could win 2 games, but i can't even count how many times i have said that as a beavs fan. And we end up winning 5 or 6 games.

Hoping for the best.

And for the record, we did beat the ducks last year. So we have bragging rights until the next civil war.
That was Riley's MO. These aren't Mike Riley's Beavers

It seems like there are more beaver fans on this forum than Duck fans. Who would cheer for the freakin' Beavers unless you actually went to OSU. I'd like to see them do well, since they are from Oregon, but they went down hill since the great season they had around 2000, when they had Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmanzadah.
Some people like to root for the underdog.

Some people like beavers.

And some of us like both.

I cheer for every Oregon sports franchise across the board and in sports we don't have I cheer for the closest NW franchise usually.....during the Civil War I always root for the Beavs.....I relate to the underdogs of the world!

Well recruiting talent and coaching the talent you recruit is part of the job... so, that falls on Anderson.

there's no parity in college sports like that....kid has a choice between any Pac12 team, he's not going to commit to Corvalis over Eugene or Washington...facilities impress kids too....Beavs don't have much flash to sell young guys with...that's why I think their baseball tradition is so amazing....time will tell if Anderson can get them to win but he's trying to rebuild a bottom feeding team right now.

Idc about all that, you still need to be able to coach a 2/3* kid to a 4* level.

Chip has too big of an ego to come to OSU.

This may be true, but they should absolutely give it a shot.

And we don't have the money to pay him or his recruits.

It would be an investment in the University's long term success overall. There is an undeniable correlation at major conference institutions between football success and student enrollment. I have zero doubt that if they were able to lure Chip to OSU for $50M/5y (with no out clauses), they would more than recoup the incremental salary outlay in increased tuition revenue within that time frame.

Honestly though, what they really need is to poach a top-notch DC like the Ducks did, and shore up that side of the ball.

I think they need top notch defensive players....actually the Ducks could improve on that too...both teams have good defensive coaches but coaches don't make you get flattened by a guy 50 lbs bigger than you....the Pac 12 has always put their priorities on offense...quarterbacks, running backs and wide recievers...Beavs have a horrible kicker too...or at least he hasn't punted very well.

We should just Brundlefly the two teams.

The University of Oregon State Platypuses!

Just kidding, I'm enjoying @tlongII flagging every post I make about the Beavers.

Close. After they merge, they should move the campus to Portland.

I think you see where I'm going with this.

They do need top notch defensive players; and top-notch defensive coaches recruit top-notch defensive players. It's a process, and that process starts with top coaches.

Eh. Osu already has 7,000 more students than U of O does. Looking at the colleges accross the US, it looks like the university of Central Florida has the most undergrads, and I haven't seen that translate to much success for them.

The truth is, it's hard to shell out money to coaches and recruits when you have Potato Salad and Salsa as your biggest donor.

Nike will always give U of O a substantial advantage.

OSU is a school that thrives on engineering scholarships more than sports scholarships....I think it's a great university for a small town
