Yeah, I could understand if it was unique in it's design (it does have neat features), but it's not like it was built in during the WPA or was really ornate. It's a box.
I'd let his hate flow through me
Put an NHL team in the Memorial coliseum.
Put an NHL team in the Memorial coliseum.
The RG was built with NHL in mind.
For fucks sake BGD.
Put an NHL team in the Memorial coliseum.
Where is the team then?
It's ugly... at this point about the only thing you could do is completely renovate the interior and turn it into something else.
You know, you might be onto something there. I wonder if they could expand it UP and down and make it serviceable for another sport?
Probably not likely, because it would have to be expanded outward first. I can't imagine it'd be too hard to expand the walls outwards, and incorporate the current structure somehow. It'd have to be cheaper than starting over/from scratch one would think. The walls of that thing are just windows basically.
Best idea yet! And it'd create some real jobs, rather than just seasonal concessions sellers.I loved this idea for the MC -- expand movie/tv production in the city:
Second potential misrepresentation of "average." The problem with portland weather is that it never pours like the midwest or east coast. It just drizzles incessantly. Never know if such situations would trigger rain delays but it's possible.
Paul Allen has had a couple of chances at an NHL team already and he's the reason we don't have NHL here.
Why settle for one. MLB and the NHL would do just fine here in conjunction with each other and the NBA. They all don't really have too much overlap in fan base. Just look at this thread. Basketball fans are the last type of fans I would expect to like Baseball. But there are plenty of baseball and hockey fans in Portland, and I bet most don't care for the blazers or basketball.
Contrary to popular belief around here, we do have a very large city/metro area that can support 3-4 big teams.
Unless Paul is waiting for the Mariners and Safeco Field to become available which is a possibility.
