Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash(notes) has been in the NBA since 1996 and has seen a lot during his career. As he's about to begin yet another season, he says he's not expecting his team to make it to the playoffs, according to SB Nation.

"To be honest, if I was outside this picture and a betting man, I would probably pick us to be outside of the playoffs considering all the changes and the new guys," said Nash, 36, according to the site.

Nash doesn't seem like a Nate guy and is happy in Phx . . . but a former POY winding up his carreer might be interested in one more championship run . . . unfortunately he probably has more chance ending up on the Lakers than the Blazers.

MIND TRICKS! Lowering the expectations.

That dude was at the last Duck game in the stands!

Hedo Turkoglu is potentially their starting power forward ...

"Ball"

At first I thought they might have a fire sale and we could take advantage.

...Then I looked at their roster  (With the exception to Lopez, he's legit)

I've always kind of liked Childress (OK, I like him quite a bit) but I'll take the younger, better version of him in Nic.

If Phoenix is out of the playoff race early on in the season I hope we make a run at Nash. He would be a large upgrade over Miller and I think with some picks and rookies thrown in we may be able to get a deal done.

Yes he is 36 but he has a lot of skills that stick around with age. I think he could play for a number of future season as Kidd is doing and Stockton did.

This.

Nash didn't exactly say he doesn't see his team making the playoffs. He said "if he was on the outside" basically meaning that to the untrained eye, it looks like we won't be good but we will be.

Josh Childress
Earl Clark
Goran Dragic
Jared Dudley
Channing Frye
Grant Hill
Matt Janning
Gani Lawal
Robin Lopez
Steve Nash
Jason Richardson
Garret Siler
Hedo Turkoglu
Hakim Warrick

Fucking hell. Robin Lopez is going to get a shit-ton of rebounds this year. Because sure as fuck nobody else will.

God I wish Oden were healthy for this game.

Also, Nash is a bad fit for our team if Brandon wants the ball.

You know, Nash is owed $21 mil for this season and next. I wonder if we could package Przybilla, the pick we just got, our first rounder next year, and the trade exception for him.

Sounds kind of crazy, but I'd actually kind of like to have both Nash and Miller. It'd be awesome to have two old creaky pass-first point guards on the roster for the full 48 minutes.

Miller might not like it, though....

I don't think I've ever once heard a player complain about having Nash as a teammate. I doubt Roy would be the first.

This is why I picked him up in most of my NBA fantasy teams.

If Roy doesn't like Miller, I'm not sure how he would react to Nash.

Is that pic online somewhere?

Nah, it's on my facebook page. One of my camera guys shot him. I just froze the image on my monitor in the TV truck and took a pic with my iPhone. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

Nash holds the ball the WHOLE time and kicks to three point shooters. Roy wouldn't like being a spot up guy nor should he. Bad fit. Run and gun PG to play with slow down iso player like Roy in the same backcourt? Horrible idea.

Since when the fuck is Miller a pass-first point guard??? Back in his Cleveland days, yes, but not now. That guy is always looking to score. He had back to back games of 10+ assists only once all season. He certainly wasn't thinking pass first when he scored 52 vs the Mavs.

My opinion is that Roy would like Nash more than Miller - first, Nash is apparently a very open team-mate that socializes well with the locker room, 2nd - he is a much better target for passes from Roy when Roy is handling the ball and as such - will be like a super-duper Blake when Roy handles the ball, while he will be a better passer than Miller when he (Nash) handles the ball.

The issue, imho, is not the ball handling, but the kind of offense that needs to be run when Roy/Miller are on the court and the fact that when Roy handles the ball with Miller on the court, the spacing is not as good for Roy to operate.

Nash is definitely a superior shooter, and he has always excelled at running the pick and roll. I remember he ate us up with Dirk in.... 2002?

That is indeed a pretty anemic looking bunch (and Childress has a broken index finger on his shooting hand to boot) but I'm sort of imagining this place on Wednesday if the Blazers don't blow the out of them water, not to mention lose. *shudders*
