Outlaw/Harris coming to Portland?

You gotta get younger sometime....

Exactly. I'm leaning toward trading Miller, just because I don't want to see us saddled with older players that we just never gave up on like how the Piston's are.

Or those old ass Spurs. Pfft!

Or those old ass Spurs. Pfft!

Those old ass Spurs with pre-historic veterans like the 28 year old Tony Parker. Or the ancient 33 year old Ginobili. Duncan I guess you can say is old, he's the same age as Miller though. Not nearly what he used to be and its not even debateable.

So yeah, not quite.

Miller and small change for Harris is okay, taking back TO is not, that contract is a big negative and with the new CBA looming is even more of a negative. I'd love to get Humphries and Harris, maybe Miller/Rudy/1st or Dante or Babbit for Harris and Humphries?

I'm not sure I like this rumor. I love Outlaw the person, dont love Outlaw the basketball player. Rudy > Outlaw and Harris's only advantage over Miller is age. I'd prefer Cunningham at backup PF/SF over Outlaw. Another reason I dont want Outlaw is I dont want Nate tempted to play him and see Batum's minutes go down. With Miller's style of play, I think he'll be a good PG for 3-4 more seasons. Morrow? With Roy coming back, I dont want anyone that will take minutes away from Roy and Matthews.

Miller and Rudy for Harris and whoever - the worse trade I remember in Blazer history and I've been a fan since '92.
...
You trade Rudy and I'm done with this team and done with this forum.
...
There are VERY few players in the league I would trade Rudy for and Harris ISN'T one of them, not even if you take Miller out of the deal and trade just Rudy for Harris. There are VERY, VERY few players in the league that are more valuable than Rudy.
...
If Rudy leaves this team it'll be because HE decides to leave. If you trade him for this shit of a trade, I don't think just this season is over. I think that's a bad enough trade to put a curse on the team for decades.
...
You're trading Andre Miller AND Rudy for Devin Harris - You're plain stupid. It would break my heart but I would become a former-Blazer4ever and find myself another team or an entirely different interest.
...
You make this trade, you might as well include me as filler. I'm moving with Rudy to NJ.

No offense, but you seem to have an overly inflated opinion of Rudy's value. I mean, I don't deny that he's helped the team, and I might even concede that he's been our MVP in a couple of games, but to say that "there are VERY, VERY few players in the league that are more valuable,"--that seems to be a bit of a stretch.

To each his own, I guess.

Now listen. I don't want to look down on you or disrespect you or anything but this is very simple:
Miller for Harris - an OK trade, not even a good trade and definitely not a great trade.
Miller and Rudy for Harris and whoever - the worse trade I remember in Blazer history and I've been a fan since '92.

You can be Anti-Rudy or even Anti-Spain or whatever Anti you want to be. You trade Rudy and I'm done with this team and done with this forum. It'll prove to me that you and management both have shit-for-eyes and know nothing about basketball. It's that simple.
You can give me whatever excuse you want, that Roy is coming back, even tell me that Roy is 100% healthy. You DON'T trade Rudy and I don't care what's the reasoning. There are VERY few players in the league I would trade Rudy for and Harris ISN'T one of them, not even if you take Miller out of the deal and trade just Rudy for Harris. There are VERY, VERY few players in the league that are more valuable than Rudy. Devin Harris, with all the very little respect I can give you after reading some of the comments in this trade, is not worth this trade!
I'm not even saying he isn't a good player. He could be a good player. He's no Michael Jordan and he's not Chris Paul and not even Carmello Anthony! You want to trade someone for him? you don't believe Armon can be the PGOTF (another proof that you know nothing about basketball, IMHO)? Trade the 1st pick in the draft that has been sitting behind the bench in a suit for the past 3 years. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT even Think of advocating this trade, because this is plain BS! If Rudy leaves this team it'll be because HE decides to leave. If you trade him for this shit of a trade, I don't think just this season is over. I think that's a bad enough trade to put a curse on the team for decades.
I like the Blazers, I even LOVE the Blazers but I don't want to be associated with a team of Losers or a team that is run by losers. You make a decision that looks right and it turns out to be the wrong decision, well, that's life. You're trading Andre Miller AND Rudy for Devin Harris - You're plain stupid. It would break my heart but I would become a former-Blazer4ever and find myself another team or an entirely different interest. Shooting yourself in the foot is something I don't like doing, if someone else shot me in the foot at least there'll be someone to blame. I don't shoot myself in the foot for anyone. You make this trade, you might as well include me as filler. I'm moving with Rudy to NJ. I don't care, I've never even been to Portland. I like this team and I am called 4ever but I can't anymore if managemet or my fellow-fans don't at least give me hope that they know what they're doing.

Fucking Devin Harris! He could be the new Messiah and I wouldn't make such a dumb trade! How do you think we're winning all these games? by accident? Do you think Aldridge is playing alone? Well, I would like to introduce you to your New-Portland Nets... The neighbour's grass is always greener, they say, but man, this is really something...

So what you're really saying is that your forum handle is a dirty, dirty lie? In my role as an all powerful forum moderator I demand that you change your name to Blazer4now.

If you were really "all powerful", you would be able to change it for him. I submit that you're not all powerful, or even semi-powerful. Why, you're no wizard--you're just a man!!

I would be ok with this trade if we get morrow with Harris instead of outlaw. I would have zero problem trading Rudy for a guy who can actually hit three's on a consistent basis.

I initially thought the same, but the problem with Morrow is that he does virtually nothing else but shoot. Rudy rebounds better, passes better, and--believe it or not--even plays better defense than Morrow (especially team defense). Morrow may be a better shooter--even historically good--but Rudy does more things overall that help the team win.

Kinda like that 27 year old Ben Gordon who is so over the hill, or a 31 year old Tayshaun Prince or god forbid a 33 year old Rip Hamilton. So... Ollllld.

Detroit lacks talent, not youth.

I think the bet on Harris would be that a change of scenery would get him back on track. Also, that not having to be the first option would allow him to work harder on defense. With Dallas, he showed terrific on the ball defense skills.

I love 'Dre and will give him a standing O when he comes back to Portland, but I'd trade him for Harris in a heartbeat.

In all seriousness though, all NJ really wants is to get out from under Outlaw's contract, right? And is there anything else we really need here more than frontcourt depth? So, why not send Joel/Babbitt to bring back Humphries/Outlaw? Considering the number of expiring contracts out there right now, do we really expect to get much better for JPEC than that?

Humphries is the best player in that deal and he has a terrific contract. But taking on Travis' deal would be quite the price to pay to land someone that will likely be nothing more than a backup for us in Humpries.

As an aside, does Babbitt hold any value at all?

Keep in mind Humprhies plays behind Favors and is a UFA this summer. If no Melo trade occurs Humphries is expendable as I don't see NJ paying him all that much in a backup role. Now if they trade for Melo it is an entirely different matter

I'm also banking on the assumption that as a backup stretch 4 (his proper role), Outlaw can contribute significantly more for us than he has for NJ.

Only as trade filler, which is why I tossed him in. :)

Doh I hadn't had my coffee when I posted my thread. Merge it with this one.

Re: Cho disuccsing trade with NJ?

Merge I didn't see the other thread. My bad.

I don't like this deal. At all. I don't want half of one of the worst teams in the NBA for half of our best players.

I don't want TO back at that price, but we'd be getting the old Outlaw, not the NJ one. Nate knows how to use him, and I think the smaller town atmosphere makes Travis more comfortable.

my guess is that any Outlaw to POR talk is all NJ as they try to unload his awful contract. I really don't think POR would take on 15 mil in combined Harris/TO salary for the next several years.

as I just said that's just too much salary IMO for POR to take on just to get harris

I'm ok with Harris for Miller & change...

I am NOT ok with taking Outlaw back in the deal....not unless NJ is PAYING POR big time talent wise to take him back....and even then I would cringe....

Outlaw...Ugh...say it isn't so, please for the love of god say it isn't so....
