But God forbid we use our free speech to say anything about the sanctity of marriage!

The Vicar of Baghdad, the Revd Canon Andrew White, has issued an impassioned plea for prayer and support as the ISIS onslaught against the minority Christian community in the country continues.

ISIS, now known simply as the Islamic State (IS), claimed that “we can do anything now the world is just looking at Gaza,” and Canon White said that “in reality that is true.”

He said that “every day, we think that the crisis here cannot get worse and every day it does. Yesterday over 1500 people were killed.

Certainly anything is better than nothing, no?

We're bombing Isis, do you believe we should land troops? Give them visas to come to the USA? According to the article that you posted Isis is targeting many minorities in Iraq,
I am gravely concerned about the physical safety of several minority groups in Iraq, including Christians, Shia, Shabaks, Turkmen, Yazidis and others who are being persecuted on the grounds of their religion and ethnicity

Are you only concerned for the Christians?

I'm concerned about anyone who is losing their lives to terrorists, and even more concerned at the amount of Americans who side with said terrorists and our tyrant of a president. But no, nothing will be done as usual.

How many Americans do you think actually side with Isis?

And again, what would you like to see done?

I see plenty of people siding with Hamas to free 'Palestine' and supporting the radical Muslims whose religion teaches them that Christians and Jews should be killed and are the lowest of all lifeforms (Sura 98:6 and many others). And as for what to do, I don't know, but I think we can both agree that something should be done.

I'm not sure if I agree that anything should be done. We invaded Iraq because we were told they were a nuclear or chemical threat to us. There is a disagreement as to how valid that was but that is the reason we went in there. Then we wasted billions of dollars trying to turn them into a democracy. Why? Did they want to be a democracy? Fuck if I know. IMO, democracy should be earned and can't be given but that is besides the point. All I know is that there are between 15,000-20,000 Isis troops kicking the shit out of a country with a population of 32.5 million. Seems to be like the Iraqis don't give two shits who rules them and I'm having a hard time caring about this. If the Iraqis aren't going to fight for themselves why should we?

I have no problem dropping some bombs. It gives us good practice on real targets but anything else is a mistake.

The condescending tone sure is thick in this thread. So is killing Christians okay? Wanna know where you stand

I don't think people should be murdered, regardless of their creed or religious beliefs, or lack thereof.

Then we should all agree this is a tragedy right? No need to use a remark that Christians only care about Christians. Last time I checked, Christians try and help those that are lost because they care about their eternity.

Regardless of what you believe, I think that's pretty cool that strangers care enough to help others don't you?

I like it when Christians want to help others, they should focus on that instead of denying other people's rights, but that is a different topic.

maybe we should stop arming the world with weapons

Yes that is a different topic. Would it be better we talk about gay rights or why Oden should be put in prison for slapping a woman?

What do you think Oden's punishment should be? Sounds like he did more than just slap her.

The original post in this thread did single out Christians. Discussing that was keeping on topic.

Let me ask you what you think we should do? Should we go into Iraq to save only these Christians? To save all of the minorities that are being attacked? Should we grant only the Christians visas to come to this country? Give all of the minorities visas?

This is totally sad and I'd love for a good option, but i think there are so many negatives that come with boots on the ground that it's not worth it in the long run for our nation. Dropping bombs, which Obama and our Military is already doing seems like the right level of evolvement to me. If the persecuted make it out of Iraq they could apply for and hopefully receive asylum in America, but that's about it.

I think we should respect how people believe with such conviction that they are willing to die for that belief.

Do we need to give them visas to come to this country? I just don't see how that is relevant? They are fine staying where they are because they feel their reward is eternity.

How is the USA not respecting them? Or how do you think the USA should respect them? Does that mean arming them? Landing troops there? Do we do that for the Christians only or for all of the minorities under attack in Iraq?

The US?! I'm talking about those in this thread. But let's be honest here... When Putan made a declaration that anyone gay would go to prison, many wanted to boycott the Olympics or make sure that law is not exercised in Russia.

Should we give them visas or arm themselves against the tyranny of Russia?

we should bomb russia, obviously

Christians in Iraq are terrorists, from the viewpoint of most of Iraq's citizenry. They are primarily transplanted westerners living there for the sole purpose of "converting" Iraqis to Christianity. They deliberately stirred up a hornet's nest by disrespecting all other religions there and now they can deal with the consequences of their actions.

Certainly no reason for Americans to lose lives over it.
