I am very intolerant to certain groups, but probably not the ones you or others think.

By your own words, you just showed that you are bigoted about certain groups.

btw, if people want people to tolerate them, they should tolerate others.

Kind of a "golden rule" thing.

And just so we're clear about it, I don't care if rapists, child molesters, people who murder or kidnap people, racists, people who abuse women and children, people who abuse people people, people who abuse animals, and Canadians are denigrated daily.

I'm openly and proudly intolerant of those groups.

I had a blackberry but im idiont friends talked me into a iphone nothing wrong with the black berry i miss it :(

I'd like to see a real Blackberry become President. I'm very bigoted for them.

So i would use it Your a bigot because your a christian

[Just a example not using it to trash anyones beliefs]

If I saw that I would think you're bigoted against good grammar and then would change it to SlyPokerDog is a bigot because you're a christian.

I've never heard it used in a positive manner. "Hey, lets go to the Irish bigot parade today!" I'm sure you will find examples proving me wrong but if I see someone calling someone else a bigot I'm assuming they don't mean it as a compliment.

It's a statement of fact.

The bigots don't seem to care that they're bigots. Ya know?

Yes I am, as you said, everyone is to some extent.

I am also white, but calling me a cracker shouldn't be tolerated either.

"I have no problem that he is homecoming queen" got me called a bigot. Does me thinking a person with a penis is a he, make me a bigot? By Denny's definition, it does not.

big·ot (bgt)
n.
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

but it's used to troll people, and meant as an insult.

seems we gotta keep it fair, and not have a double standard SPD.

The best answer I can come up with is if you feel you are being insulted by being called a lib PM me and/or flag the post because in skimming through posts I'm going to miss that one every time.

Don't want to be called a bigot? don't say bigoted things.
Don't want to be called a racist? don't say racist things.
Don't want to be called an idiot? don't say idiotic things.
Don't want to be called a fool? don't say foolish things.
Don't want to be called a pathetic excuse for a human being and a waste of oxygen? Don't be a Lakers fan.

Ironic

It's intolerant of those who differ, the penis thing.

The "HE deserved it because HE's a drama queen" is hate speech.

thing is, I don't. I know what it is, and why it's being done. i'm just saying if we're going to all start whining about being called things, on a message board, we're gonna have to start policing things a lot more.

does someone on here calling one of us a bigot change our job? does it make our wives love us less (assuming those who are married)? Does it honestly make you think less of yourself?

grow a fucking pair. If this is such an issue for you (not you SPD, you in the general sense), maybe you shouldn't post online.

how is it ironic that i don't care if a racist is denigrated?

Please explain that one.

Are you saying we should be tolerant of racists, because I'm saying we should be tolerant?

If that's what you meant, you meant hypocrite, not ironic.

I agree but it comes to a point where it gets to much and action must be taken.

I think you need to let the "cracker" thing go. Unless you're just trying to troll the board.

that is true. But notice that it's a very small, loud group of people who are vocal about it. I know of at least 5 posters who have told me, via PM (and since it was PM I'm not going to say who it was, thus the P in PM), they left the board because of posters who were loud, and felt the need to constantly be negative or aggressive and then whine at the drop of a hat when someone challenges them in the least.

I think certain character types are just combative online. We can be characters instead of who we are. if in person I said something that say....Ed O didn't like, he'd either say something and we'd probably discuss it, or he'd leave the area (or vice versa).

We'd act like adults.

First and people need to understand this, if you say "you're an idiot," "or you're a fool," don't say that. It's an insult. But if you see, "your reply is idiotic," "that trade is stupid." that is fine. I can't stress this enough, attack the post, not the poster.

Why? Because arguing with what someone has said and not who they are invites them to defend their view and opinions. When you insult someone all they're left to do is insult you back. And then the rest of us are left to read post after post of two people insulting each other. The thread gets derailed and the conversation stops.

Ok i understand

No. This was not something political, and in fact Nate was the one who banned, I don't know what he is.

This was about being belligerent and calling names. Not politics. I don't want any of the republicans who know how to post in a forum to feel they are being attacked or silenced. They should all continue to voice their opinions. Shitty if this place really became an us vs them site. This was about someone attacking posters.

You are still a sucker puncher that runs off

As usual, you bring up good points. But I think part of the issue is, people take attacking the post as though its attacking the poster.

That's really the bigger issue, being unable to differentiate the two.

This post is fucking stupid. Only a moron would have to explain themselves!

Which is allowed?

I think there are too many thinned skinned people in here

Throwing personal insults back and forth have killed forums. Debating thoughts, ideas and opinions is what make forums fun. It can be a very fine line but I think it's the most important one to draw. People will disagree with me on that and that is great. That's why it's great to have these discussions out in the open.

This post is fucking stupid is perfect. It invites me to defend my post. "Only a moron" is a conversation killer.
