He had publicly just insulted me, called me a bigot, a racist, said I hate people who believe in god and said I was corrupting my child. My PM was a response.

Oh I thought you accused him of trashing your kids. I could have sworn you said that on the atheist church thread or something.

Whatever man, I'm just a little pissed papa is banned. I liked his take on things. I know he rubbed a lot of people wrong, fuck we had some battles a year or two ago; but I never thought it was over the top.

I understand he broke the rules. Just don't like people being banned.

Hmmm ... Speaking as somebody who has occasionally found himself arguing from the minority position, I can honestly say I've never felt like there has been an administrative agenda to silence the board's iconoclasts; more often the masses just tend to "shout" these opinions down.

As for the people that have been banned, I don't think it's any great secret that all had well documented outbursts of anti-social behavior and "excess" personal attacks - posting habits that were frequently nothing but disruptive and usually in bad faith. Personally I've never called for anybody to be banned, but the few that have been kicked out probably earned it after being given multiple warnings to rein themselves in.

I do agree that there is sort of a "hive mind" mentality around here at times that sees counterpoints and opposite views as an "evil" that must be stamped out, but I just don't see that as the situation in this case.

So?

If you don't like personal attacks, it isn't going to fix it by attacking them back.

If you can't refrain from personal attacks, why do you think others should? You could have just ignored it and put him on ignore.
 
Personally, I wish you'd all frickin' leave so I can have this place to myself.

That was edited in one of the earliest posts, I don't recall the exact wording, it was not a PM that I can go back to. He said I was prosthelytizing atheism to my kids and teaching them to hate people who believe in god. Even though 1) i don't have kids, 2) what he was referring to was the exact opposite, my nephew came out as atheist and was very anti-religion, and I was talking with him about how to accept and appreciate the good things about Judaism specifically and encourage him to be more open to other peoples views.

So, That's what that other part was from.

First, I was pissed and wrong.

Second, one is permitted, the other one is not.

Third, I never called for his banning until after he was banned and then started lying about me.

I understand the forum rules, or at least the intent.

Just my personal code of conduct that I wouldnever say anything , even online, that I would not say to someones face. Public or private would depend concern or lack there of for someone elses feelings.
 
Just saw this thread......about to read the whole thing, but was wondering what thread caused all this. Would like to see for myself what would be the cause of a major poster on this forum to get banned.

Although I agree with this and admit we all get carried away every now and then, I have been deeply concerned about him for a month or two. I think this place wasn't good for him anymore. I think I will support a permanent ban.

you dont get off that easy..lol,

meh, dont bother, most of what happened has been redacted or covered over with sunshine and little baby kittens. The mass opinion has spoken and deamed him guilty.

We also banned OdenIsGod, then I went and unbanned him because he owed me Blazers tickets from a bet he lost and by being nice to him I was hoping he would finally pay up, he then proceeded to meltdown again so I banned him again and he never paid up on the bet.
 
Wow, you are ALL taking this way too seriously. A poster on a website got banned. Big fucking deal.. It's not like he provided any essential services or some shit, he was no genius. He was by far the most confrontational poster here, if you disagreed with anything he said he would not hesitate to start hurling out the personal attacks. He broke the rules every day he posted. I had a couple minor spats with him, but I never cared enough for them to turn into these huge ordeals. I really don't understand why so many of you are so invested in this "drama".

You guys bored or something?

First, Mixum came back soon after he was banned. It was until just this summer that some of you figured out who he was. While MaxieP is opinionated he is very level headed, I could tell things were reaching critical concerning Mixum when Maxie publicly posted Mixum's real name and where he worked on here. It took a lot of trolling to get MaxieP that fed up. Ben threatened people and was here to argue and insult people.
